Live coverage of Toyota 86 at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show
 

The production Toyota 86 made its auto show debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show this morning (Tokyo time).

Although this was the 86's public auto show debut, the main reveal event appeared to be this past weekend's Toyota 86 reveal event at the Fuji Speedway (info/photos and more photos). There is only one 86 model on display at the show today (seen below).

To us it appears that Toyota and Subaru did not wish to steal each other's thunder for their twin reveals and this show was left for Subaru to make a bigger splash with its Subaru BRZ reveal.

P.S., the white balance may seem off (too blue) in our show photos, but this is accurate of how Orange Metallic appeared in real life under the show lights.

whats with the little circle, On the front bumper on the left side. Right of the fog lights and blinkers

decide after we see the FRS since were getting a SCION in America instead of a Toyota.

I like the BRZ headlights, with this front. Sucks that they didnt let you get close up and actully sit inside. Maybe for the public they may?

Doubt it. If they don't let the press sit in there, they're even less likely to let the public get inside.

They wouldn't even let folks step up onto the little platform, much less sit inside. Subaru was definitely much cooler about it -- let everyone touch, feel, sit in the car, and open anything.

Otherwise, I'm guessing most people's first mod by most will be to slap red vinyl on them :p

Not a fan of the "Grand Am" spoiler either (see here: http://www.autoall.com/images_products/as-1782A.jpg ), but the nice TRD lip spoiler they "leaked" can always go there instead, I suppose.

The Toyota dash is so much cooler than the BRZ
Toyota front gets the thumbs up!

According to carscoop, it will cost around the same as a base impreza for the basic BRZ which is about $17,500

Edit: my bad I meant Motor Trend and the same price as the WRX not the base Impreza

Is it confirmed the headlights are different? If not we can see a lot of mods coming for the BRZ with a 86 front bumper

You can clearly see the headlights are different. Maybe not shape but inside they are. Just check out these videos of the BRZ. No doubt about it.

There's something weird about the looks of the rear when viewed directly from behind, but at an angle it is fine.

It's looking good and should be awesome with the TRD bodykit and lip spoiler. :thumbup:

Yeah I totally agree with you. I think it's the red from the tail/brake lights... nothing a can of spray can't fix?
