3 days to go! :D

hi all. my dealership just told me a few weeks back that the eta was set for 7th of december and thats just FEW DAYS AWAY :D omg i cant wait im so excited. ive had sleepless nights just from excitement.

my question to u guys is- is the eta always accurate? or is it usually wrong? :/ the dealership is openroad if anyone was wondering. thanks!

13 FR-S Veteran 12-05-2012 08:40 AM

Is that your "delivery date" or the date the car arrives at the dealership?

Give at least one day for the PDI.

atledreier 12-05-2012 08:42 AM

I've been in the "any day now" camp for two weeks. My delivery date varies several times a day by the Toyota tracking system. Basically noone can tell me where the hell my car is at any given moment. Waiting is getting harder the closer it gets!

I agree 100% I'm having sleepless nights from excitement. Plus its my first car everrr

whaap 12-05-2012 10:42 AM

Mine came in a few days early. 'Twas pretty neat to get the call from the dealership before it was expected.

DaJo 12-05-2012 11:33 AM

An honest dealer would of told you later (if not sure exact date) so if it comes earlier than expected both parties will be happy... Provided them following up with any updates with you.

When did you put down the deposit?

Sorry to disappoint, but we've all heard how bad Open Road is so don't hold their word for it.

Yeah I agree. Put it down about a month ago. I almost regret getting it from here. They provide absolutely no updates whatsoever. I'm really annoyed to say the least
I dealt directly with the manager named AHMED so I hope they get their shiz together

Mr.Jay 12-05-2012 01:40 PM

No. I highly doubt it.

I put my order down Oct 2011 and was told I was #1 on the list which when I checked closer to release date somehow turned into #2. Anyways about 3 people got their cars before me, one of them being the exact colour and tranny I ordered even tho he was #6 on the list.

I dealt with Ahmed as well and while he is a nice guy and seems like he really wants to help you it was all bullshit. Was told my car would be ready for me 4 times before it actually came in.

Ahmed is just the sales manager and knew nothing about the car. I showed he a bunch of stuff about the car and they still screwed me. Opeanroad are also the dealership who offered me "lifetime" detailing and on the very 1st time I used it the car came back with swirls and scratches all over it as well as soaking wet as well as the place where the head service guy tried to tell me my body panels don't fit well because the FRS is tq monster...

Never will I go to Openroad for anything. The General Manger there Barry however is a good guy and tried to make things up to me however the techs and service there are dreadful.

Shit dude. I'm scared now. What should I do? I already ordered mine and I really don't wanna wait another 3 to 5 months for it..

Lithandril 12-05-2012 01:55 PM

Just go over the car with a fine fine toothed comb for anything..Don't let our bad experiences at Open Road derail ya lol.

Haha that's a pretty awesome excuse though.

Lithandril 12-05-2012 02:17 PM

In Richmond I just found them really disrespectful towards a customer.

Port Moody on the other hand the Sales manager was an idiot. Trying to tell me that I should be thankful that I'm buying the car in Canada at 25k instead of Croatia at 36k...No bearing what so ever since I already put the deposit down lol. A lil while later I was trying to haggle down the price for the ECP he got a little defensive and TOLD me to take my money and go to another dealership. So I did.

Dispect 12-05-2012 02:19 PM

Only in canada..

MTCRX 12-05-2012 02:19 PM

I am down to 20 days, trying to stay calm and patient, but getting excited. Good luck. My car is suppose to be coming ashore the time your arrives.

I was soo stunned by what he said. I told him it has the least tq out of all the cars in their showroom except for the small xa, iq type cars and he was telling me I'm wrong and I don't know anything also asked if it was my 1st car, 1st rwd and if Im the one paying for it

Really no respect at all.

Yeah hopefully you exp is better but be careful and remember they aren't your friends

truenosan 12-05-2012 08:11 PM

Just examine the car VERY carefully before you sign anything. After that, take it to another dealer of your choice for service and parts. I'd highly recommend Regency Toyota/Scion. They are located in Vancouver, and their parts and sales guy are on here as well.

DaJo 12-05-2012 08:30 PM

Dispect, did you ask them to NOT wash the car?

If you didn't... they will give you their "signature swirls" for Christmas. :bellyroll:

Mr.Jay 12-05-2012 08:55 PM

Make sure they don't drill any holes into your car either

Dispect, congrats on your new car & welcome to the club.

I also dealt with Ahmed as well & nice guy but during the buying process he fell short in terms of cx service & follow ups.

Before you buy the car/take ownership make sure you look over the car in full detail...check all the seat/panels..make sure everything lines up... check for the rubber plugs under the car that pervent water from going into the frame! (this should be part of PDI)... ask them to NOT wash the car & keep all stickers on....not to drill the bumper for license plate...turn on the car...try every button you can think of before you sign any papers! that's what I did and Ahmed was like "You're the 1st customer to do this" I'm thinking to myself....well ya I'm 32 but I'm spending 31K & I ain't stupid! Ahmed even offered me a job there after I signed everything. O_O

My story is a novel!

1. Deposit was placed April 23 & email was sent to me confirming for a white auto

2. May 14 I sent an email asking why it cost an extra $225 for the pearl white & he emailed me back the same day explaining tri-coat which I overlooked & then tells me that thier demo car is coming next week.

3. May 17 I schedule a demo drive then he tells me they can't because it's long weekend & will keep me posted

4. June 23 I email about status & by June 25 he emails me back saying I moved up on the list & to get my car end of July or early August.

5. July a white auto comes in & tells me to come down to check it out as it has arrived! So I invite my buddy & sister. I get to Open Road Richmond & "sorry man they made a mistake this actually is someone elses car" Me in my head I'm thinking "WTF!!!" so we walk into his office talked some prices...3 hours...what a waste.

6. I make a phone call to langley scion next day they had 1 sitting at the dock ready in a week for me to take I called Ahmed back & he said that it was weird because of the whole manual recall delayed delivery of the car.

7. Next thing you know, phone call a few days later hey that car the other day the guy backed out when do you want it. So I go down sit in the car with him & he says to me " so what do you think are you going to buy it? cause if not we have a policy here that if your not serious about buying we have to move to the next serious buying" me I'm thinking "WTF!! why would you say that to a customer"

8. I come back a few days later to buy the car he says sorry to me that he made me come down the other day but doesn't compesate me for my time as i spent 3+ hrs. I was going to finance through toyota financial service but instead I changed my mind & paid my car off in FULL to show him that I wasn't fucking around about buying the car

9. I took my car home July 10... 5 days before my b day (which he did wish me a happy bday) & nothing was given extra to me but 4 free oil changes. I was suppose to get a a customer follow up, touch up paint & a compensation "swag" kit but of course...NOTHING!

oh ya I forgot they gave me $200 off the car cause I previously signed up to be an open road member which he honoured.

yeah man i have to agree with u on that one. cs is HORRIBAD there. i just texted him today regarding the status of my car and he didnt even reply me. becoz one of my close friend's uncle or something owns openroad, i got him to do a little digging for me and i found out that the vehicles are already ON PORT in freaking vancouver. ahmed didnt even update me on that. i asked him to keep me updated at all times which he didnt follow through. but ill give him the benefit of the doubt. i wont point fingers. he gave me an ETA of 7th december and since the cars are already on port, it should be right i guess. we'll see.. ill keep u guys posted.

thanks for the advice too. i really appreciate it. all of you! :)

Hey guys a littlw update:
My car got delayed until today. It just arrived yesterday and I'm going to pick it up today. Any tips on taking delivery? I told them not to drill any holes and not to put any dealer decals. I coulddnt ask them not to wash as I bought the paint sealant package and they have to wash the car before applying the sealant. :/

DaJo 12-13-2012 11:38 AM

Check for swirls and paint damage, mileage reasonably low, make sure you've got the rubber grommets in the glove box if not already installed underneath in the tie-down holes, and finally if you're completely satisfied with the condition of the interior.

Cheers!
