diirk's SWP BRZ Log.
Since I have a few threads going I figured I'd consolidate it in one place.
This will be a pretty slow build but the plan is to have some basic suspension, a few minor mods and eventually wheels/tires all inn order to support the occasional track days. So...got a call from my salesman Theo this morning (9-8-12) telling my car came in. I didn't believe him and made him send me pictures. Behold, my SWP Premium MT had arrived. Ran down and picked it up at Galpin Subaru in Valencia. 6 miles on the odometer and no holes in the bumper. All per my request. And I got it at MSRP. Whohoo. Love the car, looks great and drives great. Will be happier once breakin is done. Rolled through the canyons to get home and never used the brakes except for traffic. Anyhow, I grabbed this as an unassigned vehicle, an extra one the dealership was getting in. Put a deposit on it two weeks ago. Anyhow, thought I'd share the fact that apparently a shipment of cars must have come in recently, so hopefully some others may have their cars show up today. http://durkee.fbox.net/gallery3/var/...908_162959.jpg http://durkee.fbox.net/gallery3/var/...908_142628.jpg |
Well, I got the mudflaps installed around 9-20-12. I picked them up from Ebay for $50. Then on 9-23-12 I removed the rear lettering using dental floss, fingernail, clay bar, polish and wax.

10-4-12 I installed my new license plate frame.

RazBRZ, thanks again for the idea.
10-2-12 Ran to Wallyworld and picked up a Kidde Auto Fire Extinguisher. Same dimensions as yours. Ran $14.00 http://images.discountofficeitems.co...741f6b4bc0.jpg I made a mounting plate out of 3/16" aluminum. 5" x 4.25". Drilled and countersunk for the extinguisher mount and drilled for the armrest bolts. I ended up using some longer bolts that I had to mount the plate. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...ps31a7f6df.jpg Here's a couple more pics showing the plate with the bracket attached and showing the unit assembled. Ignore the slots on the side of the bracket. This was scrap material I had laying around. In this case, it's part of a 3U panel blank for a computer rack. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...ps064bca12.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/...psf76537e3.jpg |
Willow Springs HPDE Sept 6-7. Had a great time. Galpin set up a really nice pit providing drinks, snacks and a place too relax.
I ended up driving about 120 track miles on Saturday and 90 track miles on Sunday. My best time was around 1:50 late saturday. Sunday I was driving slower and working on my lines. A friend also came out and did some photography on Saturday. Oh nice willow springs, I'm stationed at Edwards AFB which is like down the road haha. I've got an asphalt frs and plan to take it to the track soon :D

I have seen a red FRS out there near the Pizza Hut. Where are you located? I'll have my wife keep an eye out. She works on base too. Let me know when you're ready to hit the track. We can meet up. I'll check the schedule and see if anything is coming up soon. |
Got my Subaru sunshield yesterday.

For log purposes, I did get an oil change last week at 2800 miles. Done at the local Scion dealer. I happened to have a coupon for a free service.

It's very good to know that you pulled yourself back in order to get the appropriate lines down at the track. Even still at my current experience level, I make the mistake of not slowing down enough on the first day to make sure and pin down the lines perfectly. As long as I know to work the lines on the first day, I'm SO much faster on the second day. Good luck with the future events! |

Installed StopTech front brake pads and crash bolts today. I love doing brakes on Subaru's. Easiest car ever.

Changed out the diff oil this morning. Swapped in Lucas Oil synthetic and new washers. I had the oil so I figured I try it out. Based on how burnt the original oil was and how much crap was on the drain plug, I expect I'll be changing it again in a couple of months.

Went to the Extreme Speed Track Event at the Streets of Willow on Nov 25.
I had a great time there. I was in the only BRZ. Sadly outnumbered by the FRS's.....ah hem....CSG Mike...... Anyhow. Once I finally got the tire pressure adjusted, everything went much better. Yes, that was me that spun out on Turn 10, not JohnB. SO for informational purposes, 36° hot seemed to be the ideal tire pressure for the stock Michelins. On a side note, coming off the track at the end of the last session, just about 5pm I popped the dreaded CEL/Traction light. I drove home like that and pulled the battery cable to reset. I'll see how things go over the next few days. A friend took some pics during the day. All are uploaded here: http://durkee.fbox.net/gallery3/inde...Speed-Nov-2012 http://durkee.fbox.net/gallery3/var/...2/IMG_4902.JPG |

Minor update. Working in Maryland for the time being. I don't expect much activity during this time frame.
Did see @ftc~brz at Cars & Coffee in Hunt Valley. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...91376579_n.jpg |

Short story: Landscaping company sprayed the side of my car with rocks putting over 20 chips in the side windows. I did meet with the property management company and landscaper. They apologized and said they'd handle repairs. So I'm getting quotes... Dealership or shop, I'm open. Just want quality work since I'm pretty anal about other people working on my car. I need the following quotes: Replace the drivers side window and rear quarter window. (est: $200 drivers window, $300 rear quarter. No labor) Formula One Pinnacle Series Tint ($160 for two windows) Car Detailing ($325 for paint correction and detail) http://durkee.fbox.net/gallery3/var/...604_153535.jpg More pics HERE |
Well, it's been a while, but here's the latest.
Had ISC coil overs purchased from @AJW Performance installed by @Pure Automotive. Street/Sport version. I think that's 8k/6k. So far so good. No noise. Ride is decent. Need to dial it in a little more due to a little bit of bounce in the rear. Have it down about 1.25" https://sphotos-a-atl.xx.fbcdn.net/h...38688161_n.jpg |
lookin' good!

Well, have a few more updates.
I ordered some tires & wheels from Wheeldude. Rota Titans 17x9 +42 with Ventus V12 245/40-17. The combo weighed in at 42 lbs. The package also included the new flush centercaps, Blox lugs and the hubrings. All mounted and balanced and ready to bolt up. The were packaged nicely and arrived right on schedule. I also ordered the cat back exhaust as mentioned here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53599 The vendor was TopSpeed Auto through ebay Price was good. Install as expected working in the driveway. Took about an hour. Sound is subtle but lower in tone. Maybe a little louder then stock. I need some more time in the car to review better. |

Quick Update: 3/30/2014
My wife took the BRZ out for her first track day at Willow Springs. This was on the big track running with Extreme Speed Track Events. She had a good time and improved her lap times approx 20 sec over the course of the day. She says mostly thanks to some instruction from Doug, one of the Extreme Speed instructors. She put about 100 track miles on the car during the day. |

sounds clip please! this exhaust looks great and for the price its hard to say no. |

I know there are some out there already. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAngKm1-wdg"]BRZ Top Speed Auto street cat-back demo - YouTube[/ame] I'll try to get one done next time I'm there. I'm currently traveling for work. It's pretty quiet. Don't notice it at all under normal driving conditions. |

Picked up and installed a Vortech S/C this weekend. Install went fairly well. It works great. The increase in power is very smooth and linear. Since I'm in Cali, I'm running the Vortech CARB legal map.
|
Nice!!! I went with JR and carb tune. I may try delicious e85 tune on it later.
