I will be doing this early next year. From what iv heard all the back pressure is in the headers so having a straight pipe would not hurt anything.

Straight pipes on the FRS/BRZ sound horrible! I definitely would not recommend it if you are planning to daily drive your FRS. I see that you live in socal too, you and I know both know that's just asking for a ticket.

Straight pipes on this car would make ears bleed.

muffler delete sounds nice but full straight pipes sounds very raspy

It really depends on what you consider a "straight pipe". You can use piping and throw a resonator or two on there (lot of pipe running all the way from header to tail end) and it might not sound as bad as just piping. Either way, it's gonna be loud.

I think a catback straight pipe with resonator would sound amazing and be light and look good at the same time. 3" piping for turbo app with 4" tip, someone get on it.
|
chris my car will be header back, 2.25 or 2.50" with little bends as possible, no cats nor res will be on. Im doing this because i know im going turbo in the future and im just prepping early.

thinking about just doing the Mach V muffler delete

I know its an old post, but I have my exhaust as a downpipe right on the header. Super loud, and I super love it. The fact that I cant hear my new sound system is making me put a straight pipe with a glasspack to a dual pipe in the back. Fact that I cant hear my wife complaining how loud it is makes me want to keep it haha

I sort of have straight pipes. I have a test pipe (cat delete) going into the stock midpipe (which does have a res), going to a muffler delete. It sounds great IMO. Had a dual exit muffler delete but paired with the test pipe it was just too damn loud. For whatever reason, the single pipe muffler delete is not as loud.

Now that we have the Perrin cat back non resonated, it's time to cut the Muffler off the stock system and replace with straight pipe! We shall see how it sounds.

I have a track pipe (muffler delete) and a test pipe (catless front pipe) and I personally love it. My parents and neighbours on the other hand hate the fact that I wake them all up every morning. The one problem with it is the cold start, its even too loud for me.
Keep it resonated though, firs's sound horrible without a res |
