Another 8 weeks!!

Just got news on my already 1 day late Scion FR-S, that they're short on cars. They've decided to add another 8 weeks minimum to the arrival of it!

Is there any way to get compensation for this in Canada? Kind of really unhappy.

kendalldwhite 09-20-2012 09:40 PM

I just want u to think about it.. waiting on it is kinda good it gets u excited and ur not putting miles on it. On the other hand gives u more time to save money for mods or even to pay it off. Im happy for u but 8 weeks is going to be a long time. I waited 6 and it was stressful. But dont worry u will get threw it

Jason952 09-20-2012 10:05 PM

what would entitle you to compensation, aren;t you on a "waiting list"?

Nevermore 09-20-2012 10:22 PM

What was the original wait time?

kmbkk 09-20-2012 10:29 PM

Honestly, what should you be compensated for? It sucks you have to wait on it, but it gives you more time to save money. Maybe the dealer could give you something, like free mud flaps or another accessory. But it would be a customer service thing, not out of obligation. I would, but that's just me.

I am HOPING that my BRZ gets delayed. I know thats terrible seeing as everyone is desperate for theirs (I DO want mine badly) BUT I don't plan on winter driving and so far est. date is november. If it does get delayed it saves me a ton of money and gives me the pleasure of being able to drive it all the time (if it comes in the spring). Delays aren't always bad.

Waiting is nooo good! I couldnt even work during the wait ... Idk about everyone else but i was going craZy

Waiting sucks!

I've been waiting since April for my BRZ. It will probably get here in the middle of winter, with summer tires on it :(

TRBO2NR 09-21-2012 01:31 PM

I know what you are going through... I still have to wait another 4-6 weeks for mine also! The shitty part is, my current ride was totalled. I now have to ride my motorcycle in the cold Wisconsin rain (50's and rainy) for the next 4-6 weeks. :(

ftc~brz 09-21-2012 01:36 PM

would you rather wait on a car a few more weeks and save your money, or get the car drive it for a few days and wait several weeks for repairs while making payments on it stuck in a loaner?

not bashing just saying...I waited 4 months, got it, day one had cel prob now have to wait for parts while my awesome car is sitting at the shop...and they gunnipig while I write checks and cant drive it.

your compensation is not getting a lemon.

JS FR-S 09-21-2012 01:42 PM

That's true, plus you will have more time to decide what you would like to add to the car before you get it. I am still about 4 weeks away, but reading through these forums everyday changed my mind about a lot of what I want to do with the car. I am happy with lowering it an inch and getting 19's on it. Plus saving money for other aftermarket parts is a plus with waiting. Patience my friend.

I am in the same situation I am making payments on a car I am not driving and being told that they have no ETA on when the parts will be in to drive the vehicle.

When I sold Toyota we had people waiting 6 months to get a Prius paying over sticker and a smile ear to ear when they picked it up. It sucks you need to wait for the car but be happy it isnt costing you money.

I totally understand your situation. I'm in the same but surprised you even got a time frame. Both my dealer and Scion Canada don't have any defined time frames for orders.

After I called them today Scion Canada mentioned that there should be an "up to 4 month" wait for an FRS; noting that this usually does not happen to orders.

Unfortunately dealers do not say the same time frame. Hmmm..maybe because they want to get your order and just hold your deposit? I have no ETA officially and only a status that it is in production.

I was on a waiting list, 8 weeks passed, and now i'm on another waiting list and another 8 weeks shall pass. Point being the dealership made an error in my order. On top of that, I had to call them and ask them "what's going on?" As opposed to them simply notifying me!

FirestormFRS 09-21-2012 05:43 PM

There has been one on the lot for 4 weeks here now. Firestorm/manual. Not sure what the issue is but they've taken off the "featured" stand and put it with all the other Scions.

Far from it, but definitely blessed with a great family. I'd say I worked my fair share of hours in the trades to get what I want.

Wesley 09-21-2012 05:46 PM

Anywho, thanks for all your input and reassurance! I guess it's good that I'll be getting it with its issues solved. But 16 weeks is killer! Definitely not picking her up in the Winter.

I have the same experience too. I've actually been waiting for longer - since July 5th and was promised End of Aug to mid-Sept delivery. I'm not pleased with the purchasing experience - especially since its my first new car ( I usually buy used).

I have been calling myself to get updates. My dealer has only called me once since placing the order.:barf:

That's just what we call a shitty dealer. It sucks, but there's nothing you can really do about it short of placing your order with someone else.

Not really. Dealership have no control of when the cars arrive they only have a estimated date according to a GM of my dealership

if it makes you feel better mine was delayed by 2 weeks and then sold to someone else (I was suppose to be the 1st one to get a Ultramarie since I was number 2 on the pre-order list with #1 being a Whiteout) and lied to me about it.

Quit being so insufferable then.

Nevermore 09-21-2012 06:24 PM

I ordered mine in April and just got the notification early this month that they were building it. Now it's somewhere in the US, just not sure where, I'm still waiting on it to be delivered. A 5 month wait sucks, I'll tell you that.

jmaryt 09-21-2012 06:33 PM

ahhhh! but when you pick the "fruit" after the growing period!
sooo sweet! hmmm! worth the aggravation! ahhh! almost as good as getting a little!
just sayin'

Wesley 09-21-2012 07:08 PM

Well I'm sad to hear that this happens often, yet glad to hear i'm not the only one! Good luck to you sir, hope the new car experience goes well for you.

Definitely doesn't make me feel better, sorry to hear about your situation! It seems like the demand is killing the distributors. I hope you've received your car now?

Long story short Toyota works on a Burn and Earn system. It is suppose to work that you sell an FRS you get an FRS the problem is you guessed it supply and demand.

Toyota is broken up into Regions and for example the Boston Region has 72 dealerships.

Now X amount of cars come into the country and they break it down with every Region getting a % of that X amount based on what they sell. That number is then broken down even more and spread out to the dealers based on the % they sell. I wont go into the other factors such as compliance and what not that can cause a dealer to lose Allocation.

So simple math you have 100 cars come into the country and your Region sells 20% so they get 20 cars. The dealer you ordered your car with does 5% of the sales and get a whole 1 car.

Now dealerships Preferance cars so they say I want a Scion FR-S in Black. There were 3 Black out of the 20 cars that came into your region and your dealer didnt get the Black one =\

It might be tough to follow but this might help explain why it isnt just as easy as build me the car.
