News for Australians!!! - Pricing
Boooyahhhh!!!!
I'm excited!! Quote:
pretty cool! im happy for you aussies!
Australia is now losing!!

Uh oh. Can someone predict US price from that? It better be 15k-20k lower than that! lol
it would be 40% cheaper that that for the US my guess.
This is the same price as the MX5 in Australia!!! The whole time they have been saying this will be a affordable sports car... I would say this isn't affordable i was hoping 35k fully loaded drive away! Boy was I dreaming! |
boo, i agree, that is not what i would consider 'affordable', mostly because i may not be able to afford it :(

I always new it was going to be more then 25k but not close to double!! fuck!!! |
So it will probably be $23,500 in the USA? Same price as a mx5
I'm praying that it's 45% less than $39,999 = $21,999 Which is more in line with the Mustang Base! Besides, at the base Miata price of $23,500 i think people would just say "meh, i'll just go buy a mustang V6 with the performance package for $24,000-ish and call it a day.
So: Toyota! Magical Starting price is $21,999 ! :party0030: |

Someone should do what I did and went on the Toyota website and clicked on email dealer and then bcced a shit load of them in the one email :P |

I'm still hoping for around 20k in the US :P The lower the better for me

$43k? Toyota fail yet again. This is same price as WRX here! What are they thinking?
Quote:
yeah they said 30k starting price... :S!
I have gotten two replies from other Toyota Dealers now.

Yeah, I hope $43k is just highballing guess! Drop $10k and it'll be good.
$43k? No f***ing way! |

$43k??? That doesn't even come close to the whole cheap arse '86 theme!
this is sh!t news :'( pfffft $43k
As I said in the other thread. It's bs. The dealer is talking out of their ass and don't know shit. Dealers never know shit prior to vehicle release except for very certain exceptions
So you still think there is hope for 35k ?
Yeah, there better be hope lol!
I think we won't know nothing untill official word or at least a few months prior to Australian release, untill then there is no point pulling hair out and growing grays over rumors, speculations, and dodgy salesman
anything over 40k for base and im out, I dont care if it farts rainbows thats too much.
43k! thats more than a golf gti/wrx, that's a joke!
This is irrelevant as I would guess that dealer is just having a best guess.
Reality is they don't know and the price could be anything. I don't see any news here :iono: |
lmfao. This is what toyota calls "affordable"? Oh well, makes my job easier.. off I go to my local Subaru dealer for a 2nd hand STI...

http://www.mazda.com.au/Vehicles/MX-5/Pricing.aspx USA =/= World in case any of you hasn't noticed. Be thankful that you live in a country with extremely low car taxes. |

And low car taxes? :iono: |

Prices of cars/anything are dependent on the local Economy, and shipping. With Australians earning much more than Americans on average, Australia having absolutely NO manufacturing capabilities for the automotive industry(driving on the other side of the world doesnt help) and being a fucking island, ofcourse everything here is more expensive, including cars..
We get absolutely screwed on price, but our toyotas are only about a extra 1/4 - 1/3, meaning if we paying $40k, you guys can expect around $30k.
And if they want to charge $40k, that is instant fail due to the other 'better' cars we have available at that price. |
It is not possible to compare prices of the United States, of Europe, of Australia and of Singapore. For the US I think it still will be around 20.000 $ but for us in EU it will come closer to 30.000 €.

LOL Golf GTI is $39,990 RETAIL price, but drive away is 45K, WITHOUT any OPTIONS.... Ideal OPTIONED model drive away is 50K. And Thats what I'm afraid of.... basically the market here in Oz is expecting a "AWESOME HANDLING" car that LOOKS "AWESOME"... but ONLY willing to pay the price of a High End Corolla or a Mid-Spec Camry. This is merely a DREAM. I actually am surprise if its released at 39,990 AUD, then Drive away price is 43K.... thats NOT BAD. If someone ask me if I want a sporty car that's under 50K.... and I have the FT-86, GTI, WRX, Megane RS, Lancer GSR to choose from.... I'd more likely to pick the FT-86.... assuming the POWER is ATLEAST 150kW (200HP). With the WRX as a very close 2nd and Megane at 3rd. We have to keep remembering that the Sylvia (S15) was released at around 45K-50K and that was Turbo 180kW (250hp~260hp).... how do you expect a 150kW (assumed) 2011 Model Sports car to be under 40K... is beyond logic. Toyota pricing it same or close to that of Mazda MX-5 (Miata) is a FAIR decision. 370Z is 70K AUD drive away, RX-8 is 55K AUD drive away etc.. FT-86 is still a good 15-20K cheaper.... for a better looking car that is lighter and more responsive to the driver.... less power, but also LESS weight. |
I tend to agree with airmax. I think they will price it just below base price for a Z, which the base Z coupe is $31,450. So, I see this car's base starting price around 28,500 and fully loaded going for 36,500.
No way fully decked out ride will be less than 33k |
