CEL, Loss of Traction Light, Loss of Power

As the title reads....was just driving, I have 900 miles on the car, and the CEL light and Loss of Traction light both came on. The idle dropped a few humdred rpms and there's a loss in power......at the dealer waiting to get the prognosis :/

Any thoughts???

Take a number and get in line

What have people been finding is the cause/fix?

I was told cam gear and ECU, but I'm not sure Toyota/Subaru really knows. I believe some have had these replaced, and a CEL is thrown again 100miles later.

Hey, "Mr. Know it All" as your moniker states.............try reading a bunch of the threads in this thread and the engine thread and I think all your answers will be apparent.............sheesh........

pituala 09-04-2012 04:52 PM

Awesome!

:sigh: I hope you're being sarcastic. If you're not, then you need to chill. It sounds like this guy is at the dealer right now, and hasn't heard of these issues. Not everyone lives on these forums, and is aware of the CEL problem we're experiencing.

It was exactly like how I just read others stating in the other threads, they don't have enough knowledge on this new vehicle, code P0019. They need to call corporate headquarters...blah blah blah. I'll find out tomorrow if I'm getting a rental (I assume I will be).

Good times!

It's cool, every forum has their wolfpack and search nazi's. I'm well aware of people like this.

Maybe just a pinch.............but I figured if he got to this site, he might have looked around first, but being on a phone doing it is a little harder, besides, how can you even read print that small.......I'm just saying.......did not mean to offend anyone...........

Yes reading is difficult on a smartphone, although I can zoom...but it was more that I was running out battery and needed a quick answer being I dont have a lot of faith in dealer mechanics or service writers. But thanks for your somewhat apology...lol. Beers (or whatever your poison is) all around.

lol maybe.

My "know-it-all'ism" pertains to drag race cars, engine building, transmissions, clutches, brakes, fuel systems, turbos, nitrous, porting, blueprinting, and high hp set-ups. Maybe I should put all of that in my avatar thingy??? Will it fit??? ;)

I remeber my first beer......

I am not en expert in anything but it's hard to believe in this day and age that there can be so many parts that have been poorly manufactured or with all the testing this car had that they have an engineering design flaw in the motor.

A software problem involving the ECU though sticks out as the likely culprit particularly if they had been perpetually tweaking it.

That being said I'm going to have a shaman sage my still functioning BRZ this afternoon just to be safe.

czar07 09-05-2012 10:22 AM

Thats what I thought. more than likely a software problem, they are probably just replacing the cam shit cause they are shitting themselves

pituala 09-05-2012 11:57 AM

Like some others said, they're probably taking these various parts from the problemed cars and trying to reproduce the problem in a test engine somewhere. I printed some info from our site and the Subaru Technical Update to give them on my lunch break.

gmookher 09-05-2012 12:18 PM

I'd urge subaru/scion to get a rep onto this forum for damage control

Synack 09-05-2012 12:23 PM

Well most people have smartphones these days and don't have a problem reading forum posts.....
