Stumped: Oil pressure switch port

2 Attachment(s)
This one has me a bit confused. I'm trying to re-purpose the oil pressure port on the engine to add an aftermarket sensor by using a splitter-T. For whatever reason the fitting will not screw into the engine. I have purchased two separate fittings and neither fits. But both of the sensors (the OEM and aftermarket) fit in the engine port and into the splitters. I can even fit the splitters into one another, but in the end neither will screw into the engine by more than half turn. I don't want to strip the threads so I'm hesitant on adding significant force.

Anybody got any ideas?

Is that adaptor pipe thread, or BPST thread?

Both of them are 1/8 NPT

Gotcha! Thank you. I'll see if I can find a BPST to NPT splitter.

I ran into this before too so I know the headache. There are some sandwich plates that have ports in 1/8 npt so you don't need an adaptor. I have been running a BPST to NPT adaptor for a long time with no issues though. Just be careful as sometimes the pressure senders have a long probe and it isn't compatible with an adaptor. Or maybe that was the temp sensor, I don't remember :bonk:

I'm just glad that there's a reasonable explanation for the issue and it's not me going crazy or senile. The temp sensor is the one with the longer probe, the pressure sensors are short, definitely no fitment issues there.

Just use this adapter, on the end you put the original oil dummy light, on the sides you put your oil pressure sensor

Thanks, but I ended up buying an adapter with BSPT male, BSPT female and NPT female. That way the stock pressure sensor will fit correctly. It's coming from China so it's going to be a while.

EDIT: Disregard the above, realized that this thing also has BSPT female.

There is an oil port on top of the engine, closed by a 10mm Hex if I am not wrong.
Looks like safer than havinf an string of connector/splitter.

At least is what I did.

I run my temp sensor there. I just sent it to another member through text.

Thanks, but I'm already running oil temp sensor in the galley. Can't use the Tee there because the oil temp readings are way off from what OBD is reporting.

Be careful adding a lot of adapters and weight on an oil pressure line. You should use steel fittings. Long adapters and brass can crack due to vibration.

I ran my oil pressure sensor on a whip from the top oil gallery and used a pivot dual gauge reporting from the OBD for oil temp.

In the end, I'll keep trying until I get the results I want ;)

Shameless plug, but we make a dual sender adapter just for the FA. BSPT threads and 'Wye' shaped so it takes less space. Made from solid stainless...
