Click sound on cold start
Hey guys, been having this loud click sound on cold starts, usually when it has sat for a day or so. Car is driving fine otherwise at around 50k miles. Any ideas what this could be? 2017 BRZ 6MT https://youtu.be/kN5ykdmZP0I

I have no idea what is causing that sound, but I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets worse. Is your car an AT or MT? Do you have any power mods? |

Thanks! Coming from a chevy spark so real excited to finally have something I enjoy, and its an MT that's entirely stock ! |
Does it have automatic door locks?

I'm not hearing any loud clicks even with headphones. I hear the normal sound of the steering lock retracting, a normal cranking sound, a normal rev up, a normal chime, I hear the engine stumbling and picking back up, then it goes back to running normally with a normal sound, no clicks.

i will start it, let off the clutch, it stutters for a second while spinning up the input shaft, do all my pre-checks, fasten my seatbelt, then get on the brake, let off the parking brake, and put it in gear, and go. it's how i let the car warm up a little before actually moving it. |
Is it that knocking sound for maybe the first half second after it fires up?

hmm I do do this but I start the car other times and it doesn't happen at all and sometimes after a couple hours but not a full day, it makes the same stumbling noise as stated above, just a little less noticeable |

yes! that's what I'm referring to, kinda sounds like the engine stops for a split second then proceeds as normal |

completely! runs and drives perfectly normal as well, this is the only weird thing that I can't quite figure out after pouring through tons of forums and youtube videos |

I mean, cold start yeah, but it's not like the weather is frigid in late october. I get a drop like that when it's nearing -20C. Then again, I drained the factory goop out of my trans at 12000km and I've been running Amsoil 75W90 since. |
