i let it sit for over 1/2 an hour which is what the steps for a flex fuel sensor were. When i did mine i barely had any come out so i wasnt expecting it. especially since i popped the tabs off camera and not much came out

Still smarter than me. I had my fuel lines disconnected. Car had been sitting for almost a year, I hooked a booster pack to the battery so I could program the new stereo I put in. "Why does it smell like ga-OHNO"

Breadman 03-24-2021 04:32 PM

adding my clutch job and will be doing the radiator this weekend

Breadman 03-29-2021 09:44 PM

Breadman 04-02-2021 12:01 PM

Sapphireho 04-02-2021 12:10 PM

Maybe you should change the name of your thread to Breadman's Blown Journey.

Sorry man, best of luck with Subaru.

blowing your engine is just a step towards more boost. i did get my oil baffle and injectors yesterday lol

Breadman 04-07-2021 11:26 AM

well i got a used 2017 shipped for 3k and the dealer charged me 110$ to scan the codes on my blown engine. so fuck SoA and the dealership

Progress though. Keep us updated...are you swapping the motors yourself?

yeah it isnt that much work. if you have done a clutch job its essentially that but with a few connections and hoses. ive already done engine mounts and a radiator too so ive essentially done it all but pull it

Breadman 04-07-2021 02:41 PM

added a bonus of me fixing some surface rust and changing my diff while my radiator video uploads

My man. I've spent a lot of time sanding things down and respraying them because of road salt. I can appreciate the hustle, great work!

Breadman 04-08-2021 12:11 PM

on mine it was a rocker but i assume that i also spun bearings for that too

BrahmaBull1990 04-08-2021 03:26 PM

Who are you going with for the staged portion? I looked at Full Blown and they look nice

just got off the phone with IAG. going stage 2 12.5:1 block. and depending on the shape of the donor heads i might just have them rebuild them and do the whole block for me. fuck my wallet

Capt Spaulding 04-08-2021 11:39 PM

Just saw the post mortem in the engine thread :bonk:

Good luck with the build.

Breadman 04-12-2021 07:05 PM

this thread is getting long but i took apart my donor engine for the heads and it looks like it is in good shape

I dropped off all the stuff at IAG today. I started to make a video since I thought it would be cool but it was mostly just put it on a card and sign a paper.

But i did take this picturehttps://i.imgur.com/BHA6erO.jpg

Breadman 05-13-2021 08:33 PM

Finally got my block. Now the fun begins when I get back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEXB1NO0noU

FrickingReallySlow 07-16-2021 12:42 AM

nice, did they swap your functional shortblock for one that's already rebuilt and what's the reason you want to stay at 12.5 if you're going with big boost later?

Also curious if IAG gapped and filled the rings for you based on your planned power target in the end?

I talked with IAG and they said to stay 12.5:1 so I did. No this is their stage 2 shortblock. Mines filled with at least glitter and who knows what else. It doesnt even turn over. Here is what my short block is https://www.iagperformance.com/iag-s...ression-ratio/ so it is rated at 600bhp so it can handle the a maxed c38 they said

From your videos it looked like you got a used engine somewhere that was 100% functional so I assumed you took this working shortblock and traded it in/used as the core.

Can't wait to see this get to 600HP!

Oh yeah I do did get a donor but only used teh front cover, the upper oil pan, and the heads. Also on e85 I'll be lucky if i get near 400 wheel

Breadman 07-30-2021 09:14 PM

Installed a KillerB fa20 oil pickup, a Bluemoon Performance baffled oil plate, the oil pan, and install 5 exhaust studs (parts number 800910550).

Started the day bare and moved all this stuff over from the blown engine/donor. Should be done tomorrow https://i.imgur.com/raxzc60.jpg

BrahmaBull1990 08-04-2021 12:16 AM

Alright!!! Can’t wait to hear it fire-up!

it is fully assembled more or less waiting to get swapped in hopefully this weekend. I was going to mount the supercharger then realized it needs the ac to mount

https://i.imgur.com/TezR04N.jpg

Breadman 08-07-2021 08:47 AM

Well it is out but I didn't film it because I was in the street and didn't want to get run over. Only took an hour 13 mins too

Breadman 08-14-2021 08:52 PM

So I didn't film most of the install because it took me nearly 5 hours to get the IC/JR oilcooler/SC cooler installed. They do a complete piss poor job at making instructions for the supercharged oilcooler installer. I had to keep jumping back and forth between the 2 and after nearly 4 hours i looked up speed academy's video. They had an AC delete which made sense and i noticed the bottom AC bracket touched and just barely didnt clear. Delete that and another bracket I broke a bolt off of.

Just need a few vacuum lines and oil line and i should be good

But seriously as someone that has written somewhere around 10,000 pages of documents for work, Jackson Racing hire a fucking technical writer. I dont need a wall of text for every step with random pictures thrown in. They arent helpful. Rule of thumb at my work is if your grandma can't figure out that step on her own, add a picture. Seriously all you have to do is label each part with a letter then give maybe 3 incomplete sentences and a picture per step

Breadman 09-24-2021 04:51 PM

Shop got back to me and they said IAG put the upper pan on wrong and it blocked the passage. So it has oil pressure now but there is a leak...

Breadman 03-29-2022 10:40 AM

So an eternity later it is now running https://imgur.com/cAUeoLF Now i just need to break in the engine and finish tuning before i blow up my transmission

Breadman 06-18-2023 10:43 PM

Yeah so a bunch of stuff happened and now it is running. Still getting use to the car, but it feels a little more understeery than I remember. Here was my fastest run which was a middle pax
