RTR Wheel Alignment
 

I just picked up a set (2) of crash bolts and will look to get a proper alignment next week.

Just want see what suggested alignment settings other RTR people are running (given our restrictions) so far.

Hopefully this discussion could result in some good data as the new sway bar packages, shocks, etc come to market.

As much Camber as you can get in the front, from what I have seen its about -1.2 ... Zero toe
As much Camber as you can get in the rear, which is about -5 or so on the stock springs. .. .125 toe in, for .25 total toe in.
that will pretty much keep the rear end from Skating around.
You might need a bit more...depending on what you like. I tend to like a touch of understeer/neutral handling.

Holy cow, -5 in the rear? Does lowering the car get more in the front?

not really.. maybe a little bit...I am on coilovers and camber plates...and run -2.5

Thanks! Is the rear adjustable for camber? I thought that with the stock parts the only rear adjustable setting on the rear is toe. If it camber can be adjusted as well that would be very nice!

I don't believe the rear is adjustable for camber. You need to get the Whiteline rear camber adjustment bushing (kca326). Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks but unfortunately, any aftermarket camber bolts are not allowed in the class...:cry:

Using OEM, I got -1.4 out of each front. 0 toe.
Rear is stock camber, .12 toe in each side.

Handles great, set FTD last night at an unclasses fun run autocross.

can any shop that does alignments be able to do this or should a performance oriented shop do this?

Best bet is independent shop, but tell them what you want before hand and ask if they can do it. Most chain/franchise shops will only align stock hardware and only align to specs in the computer.

Yes, it is legal for stock class so it is legal for RTR.

Just did mine yesterday. With the alignment and the car being on Star Specs this car is INSANE. So much fun to drive, I can't wait to take it out next Sunday at my local NYR SCCA autox. You can really tell the difference.

Tell us what you did. OEM crash bolt with alignment? What are your settings? Which wheels and what size Star Specs? Thanks.

What is the source and part number for the crash bolts?

Picked up mine from a Subaru dealer.

That's them we got them on our FR-S as well for Nationals.

A must have for RTR or CS.

The right bolt is 901000394, not the Impreza concentric bolt which I think is the 20540AA090 one. If the Impreza one fits its not the right bolt and technically at an event you could get protested for using it.

These are the ones I got. I believe they are just 14mm bolts vs the stock 16mm so you get some more play. Well worth the <$10 investment.

1) what is the torque setting for the crash bolts?
2) after installing crash bolts, do you adjust for max camber you can get? This is for a daily driver and autox

You wont get more than -1.5 camber likely so it is plenty for DD, just get the car aligned after, get that toe corrected.

torque on the front camber bolts is 115 ft./lbs.

Looking at the FSM, it seems that alignment on the rear can be wiggled for minor adjustment. For adjustment it recommends adjusting the installation bolt holding the rear suspension member to the vehicle body, or the bolt holding the upper control arm and rear suspension arm to achieve the recommended camber. Don't really know how much adjustability can be had, though...I should find out later this week!

So PN#901000394 is an OEM part and I can use it while still staying in the stock class?

Just installed the OEM crashbolts tonight. I figured I'd be asking folks how many turns of a tie rod end equals x amount of toe change. Instead, I'm happy to report that my Longacre toe plates are reporting as close to Zero toe up front as they can measure. (over two measurements, moving the car in between).

I guess I won't need to ask that question for a while.

PS: 245/40-17 Star specs are cool!

Can you post detailed pics of the fitment of the 245s? That seems big but maybe I missed you aren't on stock sized wheels?

Not stock wheels, 17x8 RPF1. I'm just in it to have fun.

Ah, thanks, I was waiting for someone to try that on the stock 7" wheels. :)
