New wheel from APEX: EC-7R, forged

APEX wheels have invited me for a photoshoot of their upcoming EC-7R forged wheels!
They even kindly allowed me to share the photos I took on my phone with you.

On these photos you can see
17x9.5 +40 in Anthracite
18x9.5 +40 in Gold

The unmounted wheel is Bronze. If I remember correctly, it was 17x9.0 +35.

Both wheels we've tried had a lot of clearance from '17 BRZ Performance Package Brembo calipers.

More info on the wheels: https://www.apexraceparts.com/wheels...-wheels/ec-7r/

According to that page, EC-7R will be available in the following sizes:
17x9.0 +42 ~17.0 lbs
17x9.0 +35 ~17.5 lbs
17x9.5 +40 ~17.5 lbs
18x9.0 +35 ~18.5 lbs
18x9.5 +40 ~19.0 lbs

The also told me a "group buy" is coming.
Track junkies, prepare your wallets! :D

My ARC-8s have been doing well as track beaters, I'm definitely in for a set of EC-7Rs.

They're forged so the price point is going to be higher.

I don't know any details about the upcoming group buy for FT86 wheels, but here's an ongoing group buy for BMWs: https://www.gangup.com/apex/apex-17-...w-q2-2020.html
Here's a previous group buy for ARC-8 FT86 wheels: https://www.gangup.com/apex/apex-17x...s-q1-2019.html

As these are forged wheels, I wouldn't expect them to ever be cheap.

Hello,
Great to have satin gold!
For 17x9, I’d like to ask,..on stock suspension or future suspension upgrades will the wheels rub/lock? I want to be able to fully turn without problems. Which offset will help me achieve this? Im just a regular driver and curious on this. Or will a 17x8/7.5 be best for me in this case?

Ive talked to you folks before and look forward to being a customer.

17x9 wheels will work perfectly on coilovers and should work with springs on stock suspension as well. On springs just make sure the offset is less than +42 and you should be fine. It works on stock suspension too, but again it will just depend on offset, but it will poke in the front and wont look good.

Appreciate your interest. Do you have a PP/TRD model with the Sachs struts?

There are a lot of variables in regards to whether or not a wheel/tire package will lightly scrub the liners at full lock. 9" wheels are relatively wide for this car, so it can be difficult to give a definitive answer. Things like ride height, wheel offset, tire size, tire model (not all are created equal in regards to sizing or sidewall shape) and alignment settings will play into the equation.

We offer 9" wheels in two offsets to give enthusiasts the ability to choose the right one for their specific application; ET42 and ET35. In most cases, the ET42 offset is going to provide more of a bolt-on fitment with no modifications necessary. The 17x9" ET42 with 245/40-17 tires is a setup that maximizes wheel and tire width without going overboard. It uses most of the available real estate under the fenders, typically without any rubbing issues or the need for modifications.
