why am i not shooting flames?
hi i have a 2013 brz i have and aftermarket catless header an invidia catless mid pipe and over pipe and an invidia n1 cat back and have an oft with a backfire tune and ive tried -7 all the way to -12 on my b timing and i still only get a popcorn sound and occasionally a small flame here and there does anyone know why or how to change that because everyone that ive seen online has the same tune and is able to shoot decent sized flames out the back?

Try installing a smaller gasoline tank in the trunk, stick a wee pipe, route it down towards your exhaust exit, wire up to a little button in the cockpit and bingo you will have flames at your fingertips!!
This does away with the uncertainty and anxiety that you are currently experiencing. |

On a more serious note, I've done worst thing than that in my youth, so I'm not judging you (almost not). But since it's a mod that YOU won't even see while driving the car, you'll attract all sort of unwanted attention. I'm sure someone here will be able to get you a proper answer here, but you will get more funny comments down the road...just don't get mad. |

Or maybe fire the injector during or just before the exhaust cycle so it just sucks a little fuel out?

I am completely adverse to anything that screams "Look at me!!! Look at me!!" unless it's a very high level of skill earned though years of dedication or an act of great kindness done without trying to draw attention to one's self. Sooo... ummm.. yeah. I have a tough time in today's world. |

You can modify your MAF scaling or Fuelling tables via Romraider/OFT to make it more rich, read up in the software tuning section and make sure you know what you are doing first. |

Surprised this thread hasn't gone to shit yet.
I won't be the last person to tell you that you're going to exhaust (no pun intended) more effort than it's worth. You're risking causing engine damage to your car because you want matchbox flames popping out of your car. Think about that for a second. Oh well, it's all up to you OP. Not my car, not my concern. |

or if I did and was incredibly rude, or if I liked the sound, or if I liked wasting gas, I'd consider it, too. I don't, I'm not, I don't, and I don't... soo... lol... yeah, I don't get it. My ideal high performance car would look like and be as practical as my E36 325i was, with the handling of my FRS, the sound of our Lexus LX470, and a ton of incredibly responsive power. Totally silent and no one would know by looking what exactly the car was capable of. The one thing I DISLIKE about the FRS is the way it looks. It's an eye-catching, attractive, aggressive looking car. I DON'T like that. If I could have found another rear-wheel drive, manual tranmission car that handled this well for the same money that looked more understated, I would have bought it, but I couldn't. Every time I pull up in my car and someone asks me if I'm going through a middle age crisis, it rumples my feathers. Ain't no crisis.. I've been driving cars like this for my entire life. The only crisis is that, now, it LOOKS like I am. Grrrrr..... |

In spite of how reluctant I am to post this information, here's a link:

Please excuse my ignorance, but I don't understand why a person would want to do this. Is this the sports car version of the very large loud big tired pick ups that some people drive in order to call attention to themselves? When I am driving with my wife and we get behind one of these attention whores she always has an explanation for the reason. I won't say it here but she says "why would a man want to advertise that". The ladies know what I'm talking about.

Feel bad for the neighbors, tho. It'd be fun for a few minutes. |
I was at the track one day and there was a V6 Genesis holding up myself, and the Porsche ahead of me. It would backfire on decel so loud I could feel it in my car. I thought I had lost a DI seal or something :)

LMAO Flames. In days gone by when cars had carburetors, coils, points, and condensers I spent hours trying to get them to STOP popping and shooting flames.
Flames ----:bellyroll: |
Scotch bonnets may help...
