Rumors of a 86 Club

Hey Guys,

I ran into an FR-S owner today who told me there is a BRZ/FRS/GT86 club forming up around Portland and there are plans to do a meet up soon. He didn't have any details for me, just told me to Google for it, said its related to Nameless Engineering.

Anyone on here heard about it? I googled around but everything I got was advertising for Nameless Engineering.

Cheers!

Yeah there is a facebook group that was started by Jason from Nameless, they want to get a group started. Find Nameless on facebook and he can hook you up.

DarrenDriven 08-01-2012 12:50 PM

Lots of people say that they are gonna start a club... but there's more to a club than just making stickers for everyone to share. :)

Are you interested in being in a club, slizoth? Sometime you should roll up to Portland and meet up with our little motley group of 86 owners. We aren't a club, but we're getting to know each other and hang out about once a week. Check my NW Shop topic:

First rule of 86 club is you do not talk about 86 CLUB!!!!http://www.trainbodyandmind.com/wp-c...ht-club-07.jpg

DarrenDriven 08-01-2012 12:58 PM

HEHEHEHE..... YES!!! Damn, did I leave the original on the copy machine again!?!

Neziah 08-01-2012 01:04 PM

LMAO!

Hey I don't recall any mention of stickers in the facebook group, or even a secret handshake! hahaha.

I think the goal is to get people together and have fun with the cars. The more options the better.

WingsofWar 08-01-2012 01:18 PM

Sorry I demand a secret handshake, or maybe beer.....

Tainen 08-01-2012 03:16 PM

if only I lived further south, maybe I too could be part of this secret society...
@Jason@Nameless needs to chime in here to deny the existance to make this complete.

My goal was to get a PDX group together so that we could organize some bi-weekly or monthly meets and rotate them to various corners of the greater PDX/Vancouver area so that alternating meets would be a short distance for those people who reside near the meet location. Figured that'd be a good way to get more people to show up more often. A good start for all of us in PDX would be to start meeting at the Cascade Cars & Coffee Portland by the Starbucks at Cascade Station (near PDX Airport) on Saturdays at 8:30-~10AM. We were there two weeks back and so was Neziah. It's a fun meet, lots of different cars and for the most part it's a really chill group. You'll see everything from MkI Rabbits to rally cars & drag Supras. It's a good time. Refreshing in contrast to the Tigard/Tualatin Ferrari/Maser C&C meets at the same time weekly.

Not sure if I'll personally be able to make it out there this weekend, but if my wife and I head out to the gorge for a hike I might be able to cruise by. Really need to get away and enjoy a weekend for a change.

As for Seattle meets, if we can get enough people together I know most of the folks down here would gladly entertain trucking up there if the meet was in Tacoma or South Center or somewhere like that.

Here's a link to the PDX Facebook group and then another enthusiast group that has a larger array of PNW folks:

Our PDX Group: http://www.facebook.com/PDXFT86Owners?ref=hl

The BRZ/FR-S/GT86 Enthusiasts Group: http://www.facebook.com/groups/152742868183430/

I was thinking next Tuesday Night might be fun to do a meet at our shop, show everybody what we do here, have a little BBQ and maybe tear the intake manifold off our FR-S to get that started.

Jason

Jason@Nameless 08-02-2012 01:56 AM

Darren, were you ever one of the 'rolla guys who showed up at the Tuesday Night meets across the street from the middle school on Falk Road in Vancouver? That is where I met my business partner and one of our employees as well as the machinist who we work with here. Started as an AE86 meet, then the Nissan/Datsun guys infiltrated, then a bunch of stragglers like me showed up with oddball Euro cars.

DarrenDriven 08-02-2012 03:17 AM

No, I don't remember ever meeting up in Vancouver... but it's possible I was there once. Never a regular thing, though. I had a red GT-S coupe with Rewinds mounted up.

I might roll up and check out your shop with @NickFRS soon.

I think I might head up to Portland this weekend if I can get a hold of my friends up there and plan a couple activities. I was thinking Friday night and Saturday day.

BYOB&B?

Jason@Nameless 08-03-2012 04:21 PM

Yep. Tuesday Night:

Nameless Performance, Inc.
40508 NE 44th Ave
La Center, WA 98629

We'll meet at 6PM till whenever people are tired of hanging out. Traeger will be fired up at 5 and you can throw on whatever you bring when you get here. We'll probably run some bacon and either burgers & dogs or maybe some further variety. It'll be fun. You can show up whenever, but I'd prefer it if nobody rolled in after it gets dark. We'll show you some of our favorite roads on the map and then maybe we can plan a weekend drive sometime in the near future also.

Look forward to meeting you all!

Jason

DarrenDriven 08-03-2012 08:53 PM

I've got it on my calendar and will probably roll up with some of these guys.

QFry 08-03-2012 09:17 PM

Marked on calendar...

So, is there a "club" or meet?

Sort of. Once a month we meet at Sykart for some indoor carting. Last year I had a monthly meet at a pizza place in SE but only one person showed the third time I did it so I stopped doing them as there wasn't any interest.

Perhaps I should organize a bi-weekly gathering with once a month on the east side and once a month on the west side that way people that are scared to cross a bridge can stick to their side of the world.

What say everyone?

I could even have the west side meet at my place since there's a big parking lot next to my place. Perhaps @DarrenDriven would like to host the East side one once a month?

I like this idea I'd show up to both

stockysnail 11-30-2013 08:07 PM

Question now is Sunday, Monday, or Thursday night work better. I'm thinking show between 6-730pm. People can stay longer if they want but don't want to make it an all nighter. I doubt most people would want the weeknights but some may not want Sunday's since that's Red Door night.

BRZPDX 11-30-2013 08:45 PM

if we're going drifting and not just hard parking, I'd be interested.

DarrenDriven 11-30-2013 08:49 PM

I'm down for this, but in NYC at the moment... can't plan this until I get back.

Another night of where you and Darren mess around?

Rio 12-01-2013 03:37 AM

I like the monthly idea meetup idea. And carts sound like an awesome activity! I am good with Sunday or Monday.

Missy 12-01-2013 01:25 PM

Jealoussss, nothing fun in Tacoma that I can find at least.
Not that it matters right now anyway. Bah!
