BRZ OEM camera
I just got an OEM camera (not the OEM aftermarket, but the one that's shipped from factory).
I don't understand how to attach it to the car; do someone have some picture/hints? |
It's all in YouTube.
If all you got was the camera, then you need the wiring harness to connect to the back of the stereo. |
Thanks, but I mean how to mount it on the trunk. It has a strange plate with clips.

I have one myself, installed by myself. To this day, though it was an expensive investment, it's well worth it. Quality is very good! |

Do you have some photos? does the plate stick to the trim or to the trunk itself?

This is the one that I have. Bought from my local Subaru dealership with Subaru parts number and everything. https://www.emeraldintegrations.com/..._hd_2-2_34.jpg |
The plate goes vertically on the trunk itself, underneath the center trim piece. If your car didn't come with the camera, the cutout on the trim piece to allow it to mount won't be there, you'll have to deal with that somehow.
Keep in mind that any cutting you do on the trim to give the camera the clearance it needs won't be covered up by anything, so you'll always see whatever imperfection might be left behind. For that reason, it's much easier to get the style DaJo bought and mount it directly on the trim as it will cover any hole you drill. |
Thanks, I saw that there are no different part numbers for both trunk nor trim. Cutting the trim is not a problem, do the trunk has the hole? This could be annoying...
Any photo, please? |
There is a hole the wires for the license plate lights go through that you can run the camera wire in too.
|
Guys, no offence, I worked for 10 years in car hi-fi area, I know how to fit a rear camera. I just want to know how the OEM camera is attached to the trunk, as there is no specific part number for trunk. If your car did not came with a camera from factory, that's not what I'm looking for...
|
You don't need different parts for the trunk or trim. Just need to modify the existing piece. If you take a look at the actual parts on the car, you'll see what I'm talking about. There are seam lines where the camera cutout would be that you need to remove. As for the trunk, there are a multitude of holes under that trim piece, but most people add new wiring through the grommet for the license plate lights as it's convenient and protected.
This may sound harsh, but if you've been in this field for 10 years you should know what you're looking at when you pop off the rear trim. Add to that a simple search for OEM cameras and you'll have no problem. |
I still don’t have my car, it’ll arrive in July, and I’m going to buy all the parts I need before that date...
|
Dude. Seriously YouTube it. It's all there.
|
I re-up this thread because I got my car. Now, I see there’s a masking on the trim piece with the cutout for the camera, but the trunk needs to be drilled.
I can find the horizontal alignment measuring the trim, but I can’t find the vertical measure. Anyone with stock camera may please take it for me? Plus, is there any groove for the borders of the plate? Thanks! |

I contacted more than twice local dealer but they can't find the correct part number for the rearview camera so if we share the same system could you tell me the part number please? |
I live in Italy, but I own an 86. Camera is just for JP and US versions. Not an issue, it can pair with other systems, it just needs 6V for feeding (you can use a 7806 chip). P/N is 86267CA500.

Here is how the factory mounts the reverse camera in my (dirty) Series.Yellow

Could you please measure the distance between the bottom of the trim and the lower edge of the camera plate? Thanks!
|
~1.1cm from the bottom of the trunk garnish to the edge of the camera plate.
~0.8cm from where the trunk garnish light cutout begins to the edge of the camera plate. https://i.imgur.com/eSIPEBE.jpg?2 https://i.imgur.com/mCciEmq.jpg?2 |
Great, many thanks! This is very very useful!
|
Sorry to hijack, but besides the OEM camera, what did u use for the wiring?
|
As I used an aftermarket radio, I cut the 4 pin connector of the camera and soldered a female RCA and a 7806 chip to feed 6V. Then I connected a couple of wires to reverse lights, and a male to make 75 Ohms RCA to the monitor.
BTW, the trunk trim is pre cut. |
Ah i see. I think that might be out of my depth to attempt.
Thanks for the reply! |

Or has he EUDM BRZ/GT86 this cord from the factory so it's plug and play? |
Rear OEM camera is just for US and Australian market. If you have an aftermarket radio, my solution is the best. If you have stock one, you need to buy the trunk (and probably other) wiring, as there is no cord from factory. Or you can buy a genuine Subaru aftermarket camera.

Really? UK has it? I read the 2017 technical bulletin and it wasn't mentioned, just US and AU... Are you sure yours isn't the Subaru aftermarket?
