HKS 2.2L FA20 short block
In case anyone is interested, JPY 1,800,000 available starting in April 2018.

Some questions for those of you that are savvy:
1. How much more power would this stock block give? What is the max it would be able to handle? 2. What happens to the car's driving characteristics? Does is still stay a high revving thing? I see the CR is lower 3. Would any tuner be able to work on this if I was to add FI to it, or headers let's say? Edit: is the price right? JPY to USD converted it's 16K...... |
2.1L, 10.5 CR, I bet the target audience is those who want to go FI.

You can have a bigger better FA built for far less state side.

While super cool, that is a lot of money!

In this case, it's just very unfortunate that it's a 2.116 liter displacement. A slightly less unfortunate case is a Honda S2000 2.2L, which is really 2.154... |
Shortblock includes camshafts?

Edit lol I'm dumb, thought you were asking about what a short block was. I should read more good. I agree, that is odd. |

The FA20 is just a short block (i.e. nothing above head gasket). This is a long block: https://i.imgur.com/6IedAtZ.jpg |

Yes, there's a bullet point above, but I ignore that because it doesn't provide useful info. Nothing in specs say camshaft. |
What about this?

HKS Master Seller or Pro Dealer cost is usually somewhere around 30-40% off that. If they choose to use their annual marketing allowance on it, the engine will probably be around $5000 or less depending on cost and the marketing allowance provided by HKS. The MSRP is high but so is everything else MSRP-wise out of Japan. This is nothing new. |

If they are supplying the Subaru case halves thats $1100 Plus stroker kit $3200 Plus Sleeves $800 Then all the machining labor and assembly $2000 ish Then still need to ship it around the world. I mean if they want to make minimal profit $7100 cost to a Master seller then they have to mark it up with around a 40 point margin which is around $11,000 add another 20 points of margin to dealer $14000 and 20 points to MSRP My HKS Crank by itself was $2000 |

I never said the final price needed to result in a profit from a cost perspective. My numbers are based on actual HKS dealer discounts + Master Seller/Pro Dealer marketing allowance. If we chose to use our allowance on this engine, our cost would be around $8000. Other Pro Dealers have higher allowance for marketing. |
