Oil leak on front cam seal?
1 Attachment(s)
I was looking at the pics the shop took while my BRZ was getting repaired and I noticed that one of my cam-end-covers (?) is darker than the other three, looks like there is some oil leaking in that area. Has anyone else had issues in that arear? Or on one of the other ones?

Pretty common issue. Had my car get fix under warranty. It has TSB for it for oil leak in few areas.

Yes, all too common place for an oil leak.
Why was your car in the shop .. ?? humfrz |

Cool, thanks guys, I will check it out. I took a look at it and it seems pretty light, there is nothing on the under panel and nothing is actually wet. |

I have a few months left on my warranty, so I think that is what I am going to do. If it comes back, I will have them deal with it. |

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. Mine is leaking same place as OP as well as the passenger side cam cover I think. Cleaned it all up and paying more attention to oil consumption to figure out how bad it really is. |

Mine is a late MY13, sold June 29, 2013 and only had 3k on it when I bought it in January 2016...so I still have some left Quote:
it was there before all of that (grimy dirty buildup), I just hadn't noticed since it isn't dripping down on anything. And nothing got pushed back into the front of the engine, the engine sits so low in these things it stayed under the affected area. My Perrin tube did get cut by my top pulley/belt, but there's barely any clearance there to begin with. |

Would anyone know if my BRZ would still be covered under warranty if it is supercharged??? I bought it used with the supercharger on, it was fine when i first bought it but now it's leaking oil bad. Thank you to anyone that can help answer this question.

However, it would be up to the issuer of the warranty, so, it's best to check with them. Meanwhile, where is the engine leaking oil and how badly .. ?? MT or AT and mileage ....?? humfrz |
Isn't there a TSB on that part? If so, they will most likely cover it under warranty. Ask and if they say no, then no oh well, you would have paid anyway right?
Any seedy dealership worth their salt will decline warranty anyway and say it's because of the accident. Maybe you'll luck out and find the rare honest car dealer... |
