New BRZ
2 Attachment(s)
Just traded my 2002 WRX, owned since new, for a 2017 BRZ Limited. Wha a fun car this far. So far I’m really enjoying this fun little car. Worlds apart from the AWD, rumbling fire breathing S**t can that was my WRX.

The bug eye was fun, got it new in 02, it had 191k on the clock when I got rid of it. Strangely the engine and transmission were original having never been rebuilt. I drive it hard but did not over drive it, I knew its limitations. I do miss the sound of that EJ205 and it’s Turbocharged speed. All the mods I added did come at a cost of money and in some cases reliably, however. Those mods and a tuning did give me 265 to the wheels. I have no plans, aside from a Head Unit upgrade, to do any mechanical upgrades to my BRZ, too pricy with very little gains and potential issues. The 17’ BRZ Limited has all the goodies I wanted and wished Subaru had offered on my WRX, and those Seats, my god do I like the seats. My WRX seats were terrible. |
Congrats, car looks good.

Very nice!
Excellent colour choice too :D |
I almost did what you did, but I kept my 04 wrx that I got new may 2003 and went out an bought a brz. both cars are great, but the brz is more playful almost like a go-kart. enjoy your new car

In all honesty, I wanted to keep my WRX, but the reality was it needed a full rebuild with 191k miles. No cash to rebuild and really no space to Properly store it was the final decision. The dealer gave me KBB trade in, which is $1500-. The seats needed to be recovered as the cheep katskin covers were not in good shape as well the steering wheel leather was worn through to the wheel. I probably could have gotten way more if I sold it privately but I just didn’t want to deal with it. I really hope someone will scoop it up and do a proper rebuild and tune, it was a fun car. The first gen USDM WRX’s ushered in something special, it was the beginnings of a very cool linage. I agree the BRZ is a much more fun car to drive and live with. Sure it’s smaller but really it’s worlds above my 02 WRX. Way better in all aspects even though it’s not as powerful. Better suspension, Way better LSD, Way better transmission, Way better interior, etc etc etc... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Nice choice! I also came from a 2002 WRX & BMW 335i actually.
Here is my bugeye :) I have good memories of it and regret not keeping it. However, I agree, reading what you have said about it since your mind is still fresh...I think apart from a few things like speed, the 86/BRZ are better in every other aspect. I'm more interested in how the 2018 STI compares to our cars. https://s12.postimg.org/4c5my2i0d/2_5.jpghttps://s12.postimg.org/6urbyr3ql/1111.jpg |

Nice car, love the WRB and gold rims. Awesome you are keeping it too. I honestly don’t see any major changes to the MY18 BRZ STI. That wing is absolutely stupid for an every day car. I wonder if the suspension is any different than the MY17 BRZ Limited? My two complaints are... 1- STARLINK and the systems OS seem to be behind the times, could be much better with Car Play and Android Auto. Though I can’t seem to agree with the criticism of sound quality. 20+ years in aviation his taken its toll on my hearing so perhaps I’m not picking up the poor quality. 2- would like to see the torque dip addressed more, but really it doesn’t bother me much. Learn to drive a NA 2.0 and understand it’s not a V-8. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Please don't call it a BRZ STI. There is no STI model. Labeling anything as such will just confuse people! lol
