Waiting periods at Different dealerships
Hey guys, I'm finally going to place down my order for my 86 this weekend after what has felt like a eternity due to financial reasons, but I want to know if your waiting period would be a affected from a dealership with more orders as to a dealership with less total orders orders.
Im not sure of this has already been discussed, but I'm not sure how this ordering systems works.... To go with Sydney City Toyota (which i know has heaps of orders) or another one such as Chatswood or Sutherland? Difference or No Difference? My car is a Orange GTS Manual. cheers :) |

The easiest thing to do is call a few dealers. Get it straight from them. If you aren't too picky on colour you might be able to get one sooner than i you are picky as well. The popular colours, like white, may have a longer wait than the not so popular colours like orange.
|
Wait times are now more about what grade/spec/colour than dealer. With initial allocations, yes, the dealer chosen would make a difference.
Unfortunately an Orange GTS Manual is the one with the longest wait (this build spec is the one the customer letter is about). Please don't be surprised when any dealer tells you 18 months ... |

If you specifically want an Orange GTS Manual, the wait is now over 18 months (source: Scott Thompson [TMCA Divisional Manager, National Marketing], today). Dealer makes less difference in this specific case. |

To me it doesn't add up to have 18 months here in Syd in relation to everyone else's orders here... :/ |
pick a gt up and you may only have to wait 2 months ;D
it took my local dealer to sell their 2 gt models in 2 weeks to sell. |
The smaller the dealer the better chance of getting one early. If you are really keen there is a blue and a silver GT MT at Pacific Toyota, Cairns.

If anyone is up for a drive....
Silver GTS manual @ Katherine Toyota!!! |

As a result I'm looking at grabbing the GT (2-4 month wait, Feb next year at the worst) and using aftermarket parts to spruce it up. |
That's the exact same spec that I got Billy and my dealer told me yesterday that it was unconfirmed for production for october delivery in november. it will probably be confirmed approximately a month before it is scheduled for production he says.
I ordered mine on the 23 June at Parramatta (Terry Shields) btw. And from what I hear, GTS are 2years+ wait and GT are like 3-6months, maybe even more. In fact, my dealer aren't even selling GTS anymore, its simply not worth their time they say. |

I ordered mine through Sydney City, deposit in Feb dealer told me i'll be the first Pearl white, tracking In May, went in end of June for test drive. Dealer said "i'll be first to receive pearl white auto car in late July or early August".....checked my Toyota web tracking, still said "in production, Latest estimated pick up date 1/09/2012" called my Dealer back with what I saw on the net he said "ah yep! sound's about right..."
I went :paddle: hm.... haha! |

I just switched to a GT because of the wait, I'll do most of the cosmetic stuff myself with the money I save. Got a tentative date of Dec of this year. |

I want to wait until next year to order (because I don't have the money to pay for it in full this year if by some miracle it was to be delivered.) I'm scared if I order next year I won't even get one next year...

If ya talking to him again .... could ya ask him where my car is :laughabove::happyanim::happyanim::lol: |

IMO place the $1k deposit now and if it come miraculously this year (highly unlikely) all you will lose is that deposit or you can refund it (depending on your contract). This is something I wish i had done earlier... Quote:

The car is a Orange GTS, which apparently has a huge wait on it. I ordered on the 25th of June. I suspect he might be screwing me around to keep his sale, because I specifically put in the contract that I can pull out if the car isn't delivered by October. If he's screwing me around and I have a 18 month wait, i'm going to be livid. |

The reason i'm asking is because, it's nearly end of July, in June my order said "Build date: July 2012". So i'm assume it should be already built with an un-updated web tracking or they haven't even started my production....If the car has been through production and is on ship, doesn't it take another month or something for it to hit our shores? |

I went to the dealer the other day and asked for build dates, delivery etc. the salesman showed me a piece of paper with all the 86 orders on it and showed that mine will be an October build, November delivery. I was told when I ordered on the 21st of June that it will be a September build, October delivery...
I ordered a White GTS manual |

Ordered 16th June (white GTS manual) and quoted sep build oct delivery like most other people here. Have my tracking number but status is planned production month: still to be confirmed. Anything can happen and I suppose you just gotta hope your dealer's quoted time is at least based on some sort of knowledge specific to him and the dealership (in my case Terry Shields Toyota Parramatta).

I ordered an Orange GTS manual myself first week of June, and in the conversation today I was given the indication that it will probably be November build with maybe December, probably January Delivery. If this turns out to be the case I will be not very happy. |

So yes 'anything' can happen. |

BTW how much did u pay for dealer delivery? |
You guys might be annoyed that you have been quoted Sept build, Oct delivery. You also might be annoyed that your tracking details don't update. I will tell you though you have it good. I changed my order at the start of May. I have been quoted Sept build, Oct delivery. Not only that but I haven't received my tracking details. So moral of the story, it could be a lot worse.
