Tow hook Rear/Front bolt size?? Scion FR-S

Hey Everyone,

Would any of you know what is the tow hook thread/bolt size for the front/rear on the Scion Fr-S?? I've seen a thread on here that is similar but that thread is the license plate frame.. I've tried to search on google, but all I see are Cusco's tow hook.. Please help! :(

Or you can let me know which one on ebay will fit on the car & post it. I do not want the Cusco one, I would like a different color other than red..

Thanks!! :)

Any one got any answers?? :( Please respond here or PM me...

You could try Emailing GrimmSpeed, since they made the License plate kit for it, I'm sure they could provide that answer for you.

Aetyrno 07-13-2012 03:08 AM

Looks like it's M16x1.5

:search: is good for these things

Thanks, I emailed them and they said the bolt sizes are proprietary information... but they did say although its the same auto manufacturers, almost all the bolts are different sizes.

But thanks for that tip though! :)

Do you mean the length of the bolt past the thread or what? Is it in your owners manual?

That proprietary information comment is such a load of s***, can't believe they told you that. You could try asking PERRIN as well, I know they have one available.

I actually dont know the answer to your first question..I want to put these things on there but i dont know if it fits... cause the below tow hook is 22mm on ebay which fits a 350Z.. but i want purple or gold but those colors go for a higher millimeter..

Well they do show the tow hook in the manual, but they dont provide the size..they only show a diagram of how to tow the car & how to take the cover out and such..

Agreed, that is crap. Makes me not want to buy their product now.

They sell tow hooks for like $110 for the FR-S but i dont want to spend that money on something someone can easly just take off off my car and walk away.
I already had some scratch my bumper at the raceway. Some people have no respect..

A towhook should only be installed at the track anyway...

Why would you leave it on? I know lots of people do, but other than the fact that other people do, why would you leave it on? To make your car look like it just came from the racetrack? Or is it actually a pain to remove? I know it's annoying changing wheels trackside. Just curious. I'm guilty of leaving my numbers on for the ride home from an autocross, but I take them off before I drive to work the next morning.

If they look good on why take the time to take them off?
And i dont really like how the cap is a different than the bumper itself...
But thats just me...

anyone know the answer to the op? i really want to fabricate a little gopro mount that will mount like a tow hook.

RazorHawk 11-09-2012 12:17 AM

Someone take the towhook out of the trunk to the hardware store and find out already. Bolt size is not that hard to figure out.

DriftEightSix 02-11-2013 10:54 PM

Anyone figure this out yet?

WillBRZ 02-12-2013 12:08 AM

I was just going to suggest that

MikesFRS 02-12-2013 02:04 PM

People are too lazy to go to the hardware store. I'm also interested in making a go pro mount so I just might take a trip to Lowes this weekend.

looks like it should be the same size as TC tow hooks. I ordered one on ebay to see if it fits.

NYCsubaruBRZ 11-26-2013 03:37 AM

i lost my tow hook... did anyone find out the thread size yet?

raising this from the dead. just confirmed the above measurement

AJC 04-28-2016 01:16 PM

Man, such an obscure size. Usually m16 has a 2mm pitch. Looks like I'm buying an m16x1.5 die to thread some rods

Gunman 04-28-2016 09:26 PM

Don't forget the anti seize.
