Just bought an auto 2017 BRZ! Good deal?

Hi. I've been following this forum since about 2013 when I was 19 and first saw the FRS 2013.. So happy be a part of the club.

So they offered it to me for 27,800 instead of 31,000 and 8900 for my Honda Civic 2013. Was that a good deal? I'm sure they are a few experts around these parts.

Zaku 10-26-2016 01:20 AM

Premium or Limited? That would help us answer you better.

It would be quite the deal for a Limited and still good for a premium in my opinion.

Also welcome and congratulations!

Alltezza 10-26-2016 01:21 AM

Coulda got a better deal with a manual(;

Thank You! And it's the limited. I learned today that premium only comes in manual.

Ah that's right, I have forgotten that detail. Well good for you that was a decent deal :)

ZetaVI 10-26-2016 09:20 AM

Congrats! Looks like decent deal. :w00t:

Not bad for a 17, though manual may have been a tad more fun. What's the base price anyway? I remember the 13's being cheap when initially released.

you know, it's funny how I keep the manual (and leather pouch) in my glove box but I have never read it at all. I just come on the forums and search up any problems I have lol. this forum spoils me. I might as well take it out to free up some room in there

Just to add my .02, I'll be ordering a 17 limited M/T with performance pack today for $27,660 before tax/title/license. I'd say we did pretty good StarFox!

Extreme86 10-26-2016 07:03 PM

@StarFox101 You done good IMO! Congrats!

strat61caster 10-26-2016 07:43 PM

No

Burrcold 10-26-2016 09:06 PM

It's hard to say if you got a good deal because they may have got you on the trade in. We'd need to know more about the trade to know if they gave you a reasonable amount for it.

Considering the lowest price Honda Civic on Autotrader is ~$10000 and goes up to $23000 in my area, I'd say you got shafted on your Civic unless there was a loan balance that was also paid off.

Details matter. The BRZ may have been a shit deal if you got shafted on the trade-in.

geezerbrzeezer 10-26-2016 09:57 PM

My friend, you are now driving a BRZ. The details of the transaction matter not, because . . . you are now driving a BRZ.

When I traded in my 08 Accord Coupe I bent over, took it up the ass like an obediant BRZ fanboy, and, despite some discomfort, smiled the whole time.

And I've been smiling ever since.

You've demonstrated particular acumen by defying those who hang onto the silly notion that shoving one's left foot to the floor in order to change gears (left hand drive, of course) is 'funner'.

Fucking troglodytes.

Anyway, happy BRZing.

StarFox101 10-27-2016 01:01 AM

Thanks for all the opinions. My Civic is in excellent condition and I went to three different Subaru dealerships in the area. They were offering between 7,000 to 8,000. Prior to ownership, the car was involved in an accident which brings value down some...and I need new tires and brakes...but I don't think they know about it.

Either way, I still could negotiate a bit more when they bring my baby blue brz from another area in a few days for final paper work. I pulled up the blue book and it ranges, in my area for trade-ins, between 8400 to 9400. But from most of the posts so far, it seems like they were pretty decent.

Did you put down a deposit or sign some type of preliminary paperwork to buy the car, at a certain price, when it arrives?

Unfortunately you might not be able to renegotiate the price. But you should try if you're unhappy with the deal.

I suppose you think the clutch pedal on a right hand drive car is on the ceiling?

guybo 10-28-2016 05:59 AM

troglodyte here.

Shoulda gotten the stick, but enjoy it for what it is. Congrats.

Stang70Fastback 10-28-2016 10:34 AM

Have they really increased that much in price over the years for that to be a "good deal?" It's not like he paid a crazy amount or anything, but that doesn't seem like any kind of "deal," really, for a Limited. Just seems like a standard price. I only paid $50 more for my 2015 Series.Blue.

is yours an automatic? the automatic adds an extra $1000-something to the price. my manual 2015 was $27k so he did pretty good for his automatic IMO, but it all depends on location as stated previously

It is rare to find a twin 10% below MSRP; sounds like a very good deal. But there is your trade-in and it is always a bargain chip for the dealer. You can assess the value of Civic better. In any case, you bought a very nice car.

The MT fanatics play the same broken record every time AT is mentioned. With the paddles and sequential shifter, AT is at least as much fun, engine runs at lower RPM when cruising on the highway, and gets better mpg.

Enjoy and congratulations!

You must have never learned to heel-and-toe. it's quite satisfying when done right. harmony in motion. if they made guitars with buttons, you autocrats would say "it's at least as much fun and it's easier". yea....but the craft is gone.

Ah, no mine isn't an automatic. It is a Series.Blue however which had a $30k MSRP. I guess maybe they're just a bit more expensive today.

I was probably practicing clutchless shift with manual rev matching when you were in your diapers.

Can we avoid this whole Otto vs. Manuel debate again?

I understand that a lot of you chose a tranny based on your preferences but please do not put down others for their choices.
