BRZ 2017 Aluminum intake! MT6
 

So Subaru killed the plastic intake for a real aluminum intake for the 201MT6 only. I've been eye balling FBM intake for a year now to add to my motorbuild but Subi has really brought us MT guys an aluminum factory. I can see the factory plastic intake is pressed together and time will kill it sooner than later. MAP location is directly in front of the TB.

Subi knows MT6 guys are boosting?

Cool! Wonder the reason for the battery relocation.

The pic shows a RHD car. It gets swapped with the brake booster too.

Stupid me. Interested to see if there is anything to be squeezed out of these. I know Velox didn't have much luck with their prototype manifolds. MAP sensor has to be rescaled I'm assuming?

Depending on the cost I want one for my '13 but I would have to paint it black. I think the red looks awful lol

Gotcha, wasn't sure how that worked. My line of thinking was that relocating the map sensor in a larger area would cause it to read low temporarily until the larger ID pressurized.

MAP sensor calibration in tune is just two numbers an offset and a pressure/volt .

I have a 2014 RH drive with the battery in the same location.

I know these are so new to market but has anyone been able to tinker with these yet? Zach or Drift office Bob maybe? : )

I got the local subi dealer have 1 on order for me. 3 to 4 weeks. Just over $300.

I wonder if the intake elbow swaps over too...

Wouldn't this retain more heat than the plastic intake manifold? Are there reported failures of the plastic intake manifolds?

Plastic is more of an insulator so the intake charge might be less vulnerable to heat transfered from high under hood temps with plastic vs aluminum. With headers it gets hot under there. Proof is the outdoor temp gauge reads far above actual outdoor temp simply as a result of the sensor location in the front bumper area.

Whether this is significant...well, Subaru does employ a lot of engineers so I doubt it in most applications. It is a nice STI looking intake though and certainly one of the added appeals of buying the newest model.

The only negative I can think of with the plastic one is that some people might accidentally break off the clips on the intake cover when accessing the intake manifold inlet from the PCV while installing a catch can. I did, but made a little clip from stainless sheet metal and glued it in place of the broken clip.

The intake looks sexy as hell but i'm going to wait for the install and do the block, and return style fuel system at the same time. Kinda want to do it the right way and save myself the trouble of dumping money into retunes and possible small issues to do nothing more than to change it again in a few months.

Work has been busy and the $$$ bonuses have been high. I got plenty of cash to dump into the BRZ as a project car. I finally finished my 1997 Wrangler and shes my daily as I pull the motor and take my time on the BURZ!

This thread won't be updated anytime soon, Figure 3 months of my engine sitting in my den on a engine stand.

Anyone have a part # for this?

That's a really surprising dealer price, since I was quoted almost that same amount for a single OEM tail light. I don't want to spend the cash on this and a tune until I'm able to get my headers, but if I ever see that plastic start falling apart I'll be all over this thing.

I wanna snaz' up my engine bay a little and grab one of these. Was just quoted $407.00 CAD for the part from the local dealership.
But... Would it mess with my tune..?
Are the runner lengths the same and such?
Would it be safe?

I just want to verify its a direct swap. Moto East has done this already.

Thoughts? Inquiring minds want to know!

Everything Bolts up except the Map Sensor which is a 10/32 thread pitch bolt now, then you have the Fuel rail covers which need to be drilled or removed.

I have recently installed this manifold and it is really great looking! One thing that bothered me was the lack of a cover.

Recently I have started fabricating my own... I am almost to the point of fabbing my final product. My final will have two cut out and color backed text logos.

I decided to do things differently here... instead of having the little extensions that meet up with the sides... I'm going to cut that shape last and rivet it to the rear bracket.

Btw, the bolt that holds the manifold is an M5 .8tp x 15mm

Also, I will finish my two prototypes... I may have them painted or powder coated... So I will have two extra that I will sell if anyone is interested.
