All stock? No accidents or front end work?

Very odd. Get some pics once apart if you can. I am very curious as to the failure mode.

Can't see any sign of blade damage or impact in the video.

jefars 08-30-2016 09:37 AM

Nothing is broken except the center of Blades.

I bought my FRS 2 months ago.
it's a car back 3 years.

I had air conditioning problems since day 1.

I found the non-functional fans because the engine overheated and the check engine has Alume

The dealer said it can not be guaranteed because the radiator is not part of the motor.

dealer diagnostic = 69$ + 39$ +tx
rent car = 20$ per day
repair (by dealer) = 500$ + tx

I expect a response from Toyota Canada

"Palm" est pas le bon mot. Devrait etre "blade" ou simplement "fan".

Ctrl+Shift switches your current keyboard language settings to the next one available, if you have only two, it will switch back and forth, if you have more it will go thru it like a list from top to bottom.

That's spooky ......:eyebulge:

I'm guessing that the nut/clip/whatever that holds the fan to the motor shaft came off. But, both at the same time ..... ??

Maybe they were taken off to fix something else and never put back on proper .. ??

Please let us know what was the cause after they are taken off.

Toyota of Canada will tell you the same thing.

Radiator fans fall under bumper to bumper warranty, it's not powertrain.

Have never seen that before. But if you bought the 2013 just 2 months ago, you really don't know what may have happened to it before you owned it.

jefars 09-02-2016 08:11 AM

and yes, Toyota Canada said this is not guaranteed.

So I brought the car to my house and I repair it myself.

Finally as I thought the fans motors
working well.

only 2 fans was broken (2x 31$ each).

Here are pictures of the broken fans:

The center have not the same size (height):

Any visible signs that they may have hit something? I see a black mark in the top left corner of your pic that may be an impact. Of course it could also be from them wobbling but there could be a larger mark someplace. Pretty hard for something to get up in there for them to hit but not impossible.
This one still intrigues me since both went the same way at the same time and that is a rare occurrence in an equipment failure.

jefars 09-02-2016 11:23 AM

No hit or impact, Juste a heavy scrape (the fan fall on turning)

& scrape on Rad

jefars 09-02-2016 11:24 AM

stripped because of the retaining something ?!?

retained by the ice ?!?

Wouldn't think so. If just held solid the electric motors wouldn't have enough start up torque to even move. Would probably just blow a fuse. The only way I can see is if the fans were both suddenly stopped by something blocking the blades but that should have left ovious Impact marks. I am truely baffled but don't want to go jamb something in my fans to find out.

Ultramaroon 09-03-2016 01:31 AM

I'll hazard a guess. Fatigue failure from running out of balance.

I kind of like that theory.

Do the fan shafts run true.. ??

If not, that would show up when you put the new blades on.

Like Tcoat mentioned, both going out at the same time puzzles me.

Were you "hot rodding" the fans ??...... :eyebulge:

Aw hell, I don't know. Maybe one cracked slowly and finally failed. Then it collided with the second one and took it out.

Would guess front end damage from a previous accident
