OEM BRZ Car Cover Photos

I went ahead and bought the OEM Subaru BRZ car cover. I work in a dust bowl of a town and there are a few companies around us that paint vehicles. After finding a little over spray on my windows and paint while washing and waxing I figured I should pull the trigger. I've previously had an OEM Impreza cover for my 2007 Sti Limited and was pleased with the fitment.

here are some pics for those interested in how it fits and what material it is.

It is a silver-ish fabric that I'm guessing reflects some of the suns rays.

How much did you pay for it? Did you buy it at your dealer?

houseofsuffering 07-19-2012 02:24 AM

It was about $120.00 from the stealership.

Yeah it was like $122.00 out the door. Though he gave me a 10% discount, just because.

brzninja 07-19-2012 01:32 PM

Badass.

Fenrir 07-19-2012 03:37 PM

Not bad at all, fitment seems pretty good. Been considering one of these.

djdnz 07-19-2012 03:54 PM

Are you planning on covering it every day? That sounds tedious.

I say nothing is too tedious for a new car, especially this one.

I cover it every day and some times uncover it to go to lunch....... and recover it when I get back from lunch. :D

I did the same for my STI......back in the day.

Only difference is that the cover touched the exhaust tip on the STI. If the Tip was hot from driving it would have burned. I had to leave it up on that side, till it cooled off. This is not a problem with the BRZ's ultra weak exhaust tips that don't protrude past the bumper.

Any worry about it getting scratched up from the cover? That's always my concern, is crap getting under the cover and scratching up the paint when it's windy and flapping around.

anything that touches your car's paint will potentially scratch your paint. i would avoid car covers if you can.

for the OP, it was either get hit with over spray, or minor scratches from the car cover.

This.

I decided to deal with the dust scratches rather than overspray.

WOJO 07-22-2012 09:59 PM

What is the inside if the cover made of ? Same as the outside or does it have some kind of backing ?

86design 07-23-2012 12:19 AM

hmmm that doesn't sound all that bad....might have to get one of these!!

xwd 07-23-2012 01:20 AM

Yeah I was curious about the inside because my car sits outside and near trees and I would love to put a cover on it. Some times of the year I end up with sap potentially and during the best of times a bunch of bird crap. :)

ZetaVI 07-23-2012 07:00 AM

Not bad. I think this a must for me.

I pretty sure it's different. I will get a pic for you a little later today!

Nope, its the same fabric.......just the underside of said fabric.

see pic in OP.

Mango22 08-27-2012 07:43 PM

I bought this also...

I just bought this cover from Subaruolineparts.com for around $100. I questioned the part considering it is so thin and had no backing or padding. Seems like a indoor cover to me and the lack of backing or any padding bothers me. If there was a backing pad to the cover I would be confident but the fact that it doesn't seem like something's wrong. Just my perception.

xwd 08-28-2012 04:13 PM

Yeah I was a little surprised it didn't have some kind of softer lining but that would probably just collect dirt and material which would end up scratching the car. It does fit well and thus far I haven't really notice it leaving any scratches.

Mango22 08-29-2012 04:34 AM

Thanks for your response. Good to know it isn't scratching the car. Maybe I will give it a chance.

FR-S_Tacoma 09-26-2012 09:10 AM

OK I've had the cover for going on a week now.

WHAT I'VE NOTICED:
-Fits nicely, enough so that you have to do it in a proper sequence or it won't slip over the rear bumper
-No scratches, although its only been a week and I always make sure to have the car very clean.
-Although its not required to remove the factory antenna, if you don't it'll gradually make it bent so I find its easier to just take it off each time.

Negative: The cover is weatherproof EXCEPT FOR THE SEAMS. When there is heavy dew in the morning and I take the cover off there are tiny little dew spots where the seams were. Now they rub right off, no issue... but could pose an issue is someone was going to store it long-term outside.

*Will try to get detailed pix soon*

Since you're in GR, if you'd like to see the cover I'd be happy to show you

DOTman05 09-27-2012 12:40 AM

Does it fit loose? or Pretty tight?

FR-S_Tacoma 09-27-2012 12:55 AM

^^ Pretty tight overall, kinda loose in the roof area but over the bumpers its pretty snug

leonwood 10-20-2012 07:23 AM

I use it outdoor, not sure if it'd damage the paint overtime cause by rain/moisture. Rain does go though those lining and leave a mark all around the car! Had to use finger to rub it real hard to get rid of them...

Chef 10-28-2012 10:54 PM

I'm kind of interested in this cover as well. Is there any scratches or anything thus far?

OrbitalEllipses 10-28-2012 11:07 PM

I'd go elsewhere. I have the Subaru cover and I'm not very fond of it. Does it keep bird shit and leaves off the car? Yes. Does it keep it dry? No. I'm contemplating getting a different one (California, Wolf's) at a later point in time. There also isn't an antenna pocket and my antenna has a slight curve to it now.

norm24 11-03-2012 04:24 PM

Been searching high and low for a car cover that won't ruin my paint. The car's hibernating for winter and even though I have a garage, I'd like to keep the dust off of it.

Was considering the Dustop, but they're too expensive. The one I'm looking at finally went on sale.

Comes with a duffle bag when not in use:

And a close up of the inner lining:

Haven't had the time to put it on yet so not sure of the fitment. But the material is satin stretch so I'm guessing it's gonna fit snug. Cost a little more than the OEM, but I'm confident my paint's going to be fine...

xwd 11-03-2012 04:41 PM

That looks nice on the inside, do you plan on only using it indoors? I guess I'm a little concerned with the "Indoor" part of the name. I'm using the Subaru one and I do not leave it on if it's going to rain since it is not 100% waterproof.

norm24 11-03-2012 04:53 PM

Yeah, it's just for indoor use. I have a garage. Mostly for dust and scratch protection.

Craig 11-03-2012 07:48 PM

How would this work in the snow? I'm worried about freezing snow / rain scratching up my paint. Living in the North East without a garage that can fit a car is rather frustrating!!

Chef 11-21-2012 01:33 AM

I'm interested in that cover, where did you get it from?

This is the best fitting car cover I have ever purchased…

Keeps ice off the windows! Plus you can just broom snow off the car with this on

norm24 11-27-2012 01:38 PM

Finally had the chance to put the cover on.

Fits like a glove. Love seeing the faces of people walking by when I have my garage door open. They probably think it's some exotic:bellyroll:

LOVE the fit and look - where did you pick it up? Been having trouble finding it online in the US.

norm24 12-04-2012 01:13 AM

^ Here it is in Canadian Tire (obviously, a canadian store). Not sure if they ship to the states. It's quite pricey at $200, but I got it when it was on sale for $150.

For those of you that have the factory cover, were there any instructions for washing it?

I just got one for free, but it had just been through a flood, so it had a lot of mud in/on it.
If I dont get it really clean to my liking, I wont use it on the BRZ.
The thought of sand coming out of the seams & scratching the paint worries me.

So IF I can wash it a couple of times I would consider it.
Otherwise it will be for the track car
