Well, I am having a hard time getting my images I stored in imgur to show.
More patience, please. (maybe my efforts to share are resulting in too much trouble to continue)(we'll see....) |

I chose the Setrab 9 series cooler. I did not want to mount it on the plastic shelf behind the bumper. I wanted securely use the manufacturer's brackets, and mounted it on the back of the collision bar. I had a friend make these brackets from aluminum:

Here is a shot of the collision bar with all for holes drilled to accept rivet nuts:

I sprayed some paint in each hole edge to help deter corrosion. Here is one rivet nut installed, followed by all 4.

Here is the Setrab w/ brackets mounted to the collision bar with my custom-made brackets.

So, I sent this next pic to my son, and he thought that the brackets would block out needed air flowhttp://i.imgur.com/cahXThY.jpg
|
So, I took it all off and trimmed down my brackets! This pic also shows one of the Setrab brackets, which allow the cooler to be rubber mounted, top and bottom.

Sorry, no pics of me making my own hoses! I mocked the hoses in position to find the best routing, then cut the hoses and attached the ends.
Here is a view above the cooler: http://i.imgur.com/jtpvgDr.jpg |
Are you going to stabilize it at the bottom or planning on leaving it cantilevered off the crash beam?
Black brackets would help it blend back in! But they look better after the modifications. |
And a view of my installed sandwich plate with hoses connected. The yellow fitting coming out of the right side of the plate is for my AEM oil pressure gauge sensor.

Hmm. With the open grill, my new cooler is susceptible to rocks and stones!
I went to Home Depot and bought a single piece of rain gutter cover / expanded metal. I painted it flat black and wire-tied it to the back of the opening in the bumper: http://i.imgur.com/vH3f0b3.jpg |
DONE. (you may now comment)
All done! dramatic difference in oil temps! Total cost of all the parts: $546.26 not counting taxes or shipping charges. It is nice to be within driving distance of Summit Racing!

Black would be nice, but I'm not concerned about esthetics! |
Looks like a nice install.

Do you have a picture how you ran the lines around/under the headlight. I was trying to mock mine up with a similar placement and just didn't like how the lines went through that area.

How is this long term? The Racer X is holding up well?

Edit: here is what the normal RacerX mounting solution looks like. https://i.imgur.com/KNLqmW8.jpg |
^ I have same as above, 9,000 miles, about 20 track days, zero problems.

Great setup :)
I was wondering how you tied the gutter cover / expanded metal to the bumper ? I also heard about overcooling the oil with that type of oil cooler, did you encounter that problem ? I heard about people putting a plexiglass piece in front of the core. |

Thank you, Grady
Thanks for the tip! Since that installation, it developed a leak and I broke the nipple! So I plugged it. Recently, reinstalled, but with brass and gas/oil rated teflon tape. I'll keep a close eye on it, for now!
