FRS fire sale?
I was on cars.com looking at new FRS prices for giggles and saw some crazy prices. Idk if they are bait and switches, but if you're around these areas and aren't big fans of the 86 facelift, there are some serious deals for you...

There are probably 'fire selling' all Scion models because Scion as a brand will cease to exist in 2017.
ps- those prices are super low though. |

Yup. I wish my area got the memo and were selling at these prices. |
Slow sales, refreshed model on the way, dead brand. Only way to prove they aren't bait and switch is to go see them for yourself. Advertising '15s with <10 miles on the odometer? Nobody should be surprised they're not big sellers in the snowbelt and rural areas.
fwiw, if the airfare and gas for the return drive works out cheaper than buying locally totally go buy a car far away, especially new. I had the chance to fly up to Washington to pick up a Hot Lava, but I chickened out and I regret it. A roadtrip is a great way to knock out the break in period, much lower risk of going to see the car and being disappointed compared to buying private party. Don't forget to vary your rpms. |

This is to be expected: 1) Scion is now officially dead, they have essentially 3 months to ditch that inventory so obviously they need to be coaxed out quickly so expect deals 2)The FR-S is not a fast seller, its a rwd sports car, regardless of all the enthusiasts that love it, it doesn't sell well with civilians, the non car people  So it's usual that those sit on the lot for at least 5-6 months. No self respecting salesmen would want that, in fact my friends mom works for a local Nissan dealers internet sales team and controls inventory, and they especially hate ordering 370zs in for that very reason. I have yet to find a local dealer selling the FR-S at those crazy prices, at 22k it kills CPO prices, hopefully a car enthusiast snatches it up, maybe someone with a 2013 will sell there's for a 2015/2016 because at that price if you're paid off you may easily get it for around $10-$11k after trade in....... |
Why do they call them Bases, even the base model isn't base aside for maybe some audio equip. I think these prices are pretty damn good for a real sportscar. Can't beat it with a stick

Great pricing, almost tempted to trade up to a 2016.

My 2015 that I bought four months ago was $22,467 before TTL, but it was a 400-mile demonstrator. It was listed as new on Cars.com, but I figured it was a demo at that price and the dealer confirmed my suspicion before I made the trip to buy it.
Every example within a day trip of me is still $24k+. Before you buy your plane ticket, ask about the car's history. Dealers can sell a "new" car that has been pre-loved or dent-repaired. |
In northeast Ohio, its around $26-28k. Might be able to use this as a negotiating tactic, though. "Pure price" is still in play, but you may be able to argue a higher trade-in value as a cost offset.

If you think that pricing is low, check out the Dodge Dart. You can pickup a brand new one for around $12K IIRC
...why would you though lol Nick C. |

The GTSs with decent option packages here are just a bit more than $12K though. BASE MSRP $25,195 Total Discount TORONTO, ON OPTIONS $4,375 As configured $29,570 Weird how they are not selling many around here. |

They are also known for electrical gremlins I don't think Darts are built very well Nick C. |
Craigslist and local dealers have brand new ones for less than $20k+tax and certified preowned for about $16-17k
BRZ is about 2k more |
@Diode Dynamics
I was hoping we would see an "SRT" Dart, but it seems that won't be happening lol. Even if we did, I'm sure it would be fwd which is just boring. |
If you are sitting on the fence .... this is probably a good time to buy. Incredible prices.

Did someone say fire FRS

Hey - I didn't think snuff was allowed on this forum!
(Aw, poor FR-S :( ) |
Almost worth buying one and stashing it in the barn.

Those prices are accurate at the moment. I just bought a release series in April for 4.5K off MSRP (26K out the door, manual). I was looking at purchasing a base from Autonation for $21,988+$499 doc fee, essentially $4,500 off MSRP out the door.

So...
I wonder when the class action lawsuit is going to be filed by people who "had to" buy under Scion "no haggle" pricing.... |

This has nothing to do with scion dying off. I paid 22k for my "new" 2013 when the 2015's were about to launch.

You think these 2016 models would be selling for so cheap if Scion wasnt dissolved? |
obviously this points to toyota putting a turbo in the new 2017 cars
|
And I thought this car had shitty resale value before!!!

But, closing up the sales floors and lots is definitely a driving factor in dealerships wanting to dump inventory and convert the space into useful Toyota space or downsize altogether. Claiming that has no impact would be foolish. The salesmen struggled enough trying to comprehend this car when they had dedicated materials and advertising for it, I can't imagine how painful it would be to listen to the average salesman explaining what a "scion" is doing on his Toyota lot to the average car buyer come next year. :suicide: |

look at my area.... https://www.cars.com/for-sale/search...d=100&zc=95116 If you can get a 26k base model out the door,,you are lucky in my area. |

lol buddy, there's hundreds, if not thousands that paid $32k+ for that exact same car. Some even shelled out >$40k for an FR-S. Bay Area, LA, NY, all the dealers know that there's enough money flying around for them to add $1,600 clear bras (that don't even cover the whole hood) and other garbage options (ebay 'leather' seat covers, $600 nav headunit marked up to $3k) and hold firm because someone will buy it eventually. Net result? A few hundred California cars were 'imported' from Colorado, PNW, Arizona/Nevada, etc. I was OK when my FR-S rang up $27.8k OTD, if the dealership had gotten me the car two weeks earlier I would have saved another $500. Took me 4 months to find someone willing to sell me the damn car at MSRP, pure price my ass. :mad0259: |
