Remote won't unlock doors. Need help diagnosing problem.
Here are some details about the issue that the car is having:
- key can unlock the trunk wirelessly -the lights do blink when pressing the unlock and lock buttons -the drivers side unlocking mechanism stopped working first and a month later the passenger side followed suit. -I can only lock/unlock the doors manually Here is the solution that I came up with so far: -Replace the door lock actuator on both doors Does anyone have any other suggestions that I can try before spending the money on the replacement parts? Thanks in advance! |

make sure battrey is good in remotes assume car battery is good ? if still no good remove a battery terminal, press brake pedal, then reconnect battery try remotes again. |
Did you leave the spare key in the car somewhere?

Tried both remotes. I also disconnected and reconnected the battery terminal to reset the ECU. The symptoms are the same. Thanks for the suggestions. |

The spare key is not in the car or near it and the symptoms are the same. Thanks for your comment! |

As suggested above, I'd replace the remotes batteries, before I started tearing the car apart...... ;) humfrz |

Batteries are working ok since they can unlock the trunk wirelessly without any issues. I also recently replaced the battery on one of the remotes. Thanks for the suggestion. |
I know we are throwing out obvious things here but have you checked the fuses? I can not believe for one second that both actuators went for a shit.
|
Anything else not working? I feel like its gotta be a fuse or relay that blew

When the key fob batteries start getting low, the dash Key Indicator will blink at you when you turn off the car. |

I haven't checked the fuses yet. I'll do that when I get home from work. I'd like that to be the solution since it would be an easy fix. Thanks for your input! |

Fuse is in the box in the engine compartment. Fuse number 24. See page 276 of the manual for the diagram. You can pull the manual up here if you don't have it handy: http://m.scion.ca/scion/en/m/owners/manuals Now if a fuse that is only half the battle because if it blows again then you need to figure out why (Once can just be a bad fuse. Twice means there is a problem for sure) |

I appreciate the detailed instructions btw. |

Did you ever fix it? I have the same issue and I definitely think its the door lock actuator. My driver side is the worst...the passenger i think is holding up. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=18 |
See if the unlock button on the door will activate the lock. I had my drivers side lock stop working for both the key fob and actual button on the door. Got it replaced under warranty
