Remember aftermarket headers use a thinner metal so they make more NVH

Yeah im gonna work on getting a video for you guys today! thanks :)

SpectreRT 02-10-2016 11:49 AM

Tsudo is a low quality knockoff brand. My money is on: you have an exhaust leak.

ap5512 02-10-2016 02:57 PM

I have an OpenFlash Header and had the same type of noise. For me it was more of a fluttering/leaves rustling type noise. Someone above mentioned the thinner walls of the header which could be it. For me it was a combination of loose nuts/bolts...took several re-tightening and addition of thread locker to make sure it didn't come loose. I think it's good now but at lower RPMs it does make that sound slightly.

Just remember to re-tighten to spec because it can become loose after initial install due to hot/cold temps after running your car.

ap5512 02-10-2016 02:59 PM

^^ Also, another thing. If it is loose like mine was, your data logger should tell you if you have a something like Open Flash Tablet or something similar because your parameters will be off.

Thanks for the info man ill make sure to retighten everything to day! and yeah mine does sound like a fluttering the leaves noise! and yes i know tsudo is low quality but i took the risk to see if ill get a good one and it did all the welds look great and the collector looks decent so quality wis ill give it a 8/10

Also check the overpipe or headers is not hitting on chassis or aluminium skid plate

I feel like its the connection between the overripe and the collector ! I used the stock gaskets the connect to the block and i tighten everything really tight but like i said I feel like its the connection to the overripe

Use an OEM gasket and gasket maker / sealer on both ends. I'm highly betting you're having an issue where the flanges are not flush and its leaking.

Just get a new one. Its ~$20. They have a slight crushing to them, so reusing an old one may not help.

Use the RTV Silicon Gasket Maker stuff as well. Thin layer on each side of the gasket. That'll be double sure no more leaks. :D

If Toyota doesn't have it, Subaru definitely will. Learned from experience.

Are you tuned? If so, tuners often adjust the VVT angle, which can result in this noise (This is done to help with the torque dip). Normal.

As others have noted, aftermarket headers are not as thick, so some noises will come through.

I wouldnt panic. My tune VVT adjustment sounds like that - I think you're fine.

SpectreRT 02-12-2016 08:49 PM

However, I state again - Tsudo is an off-brand knockoff. Not something I would run on my car as a "connected to the motor" item.

After a few days, get under the car and look for black marks (soot) where the header meets the motor and at the OP connections. If no leaks exist - you're good.

Yeah im not tune yet but i will in a moth or two! Thank you so much for the help, So this noise is normal

SpectreRT 02-12-2016 08:50 PM

Oh, and research the Borla V1 rattle issue. This sounds more like that than anything. This rattle was coming from the flex pipes. More than likely that could also be what is going on. :)

In which, would be normal, just annoying.

SpectreRT 02-12-2016 08:51 PM

Yeah I wouldnt worry about anything at this point. Enjoy the car and check for soot/exhaust leaks later. :)

Awesome man thank you! :) will buy a high flow front pipe fix the issue?

SpectreRT 02-12-2016 09:30 PM

Nope, its not necessarily an issue per say.

OFT is a device to download and implement tunes. I personally prefer live dyno tunes by certified (or experienced) tuners at reputable shops.

However, thousands of people use OFT with no issue. So either option would be fine really. Depends on what your goals are.

OFT is quite good if you don't have the money or access to a tuner, I was in both scenarios when purchasing OFT. Also if push comes to shove you can get an openflash etune.

the fluttering noise came back :( it happens at around 3k-4k rpm :((((

Being 100% honest, its probably the Tsudo header. It's a low-cost low quality knockoff brand header.
- I mean, brand new at ~ $350 shipped is very questionable.
- There is a reason why quality headers start at ~$600 bucks (Tomei, MXP, Borla) for this platform, while the premium ones (ACE, Nameless, JDL) are a little higher.

I'm willing to bet either the flanges are not straight at all, or the flex-joints/welds are like absolute crap.

If the noise went away for a bit with the replacement gasket + sealant - odds are it was the flanges.

had an exhaust shop look at it and its the flanges where the overpipe meets the collector! he put a thick gasket in between and now there is no more flutttering noise and as of the welds well i had one of there reputable welders take a look at it and he told me that the welds are done right and i probably go a lucky one :)
