I worked from 6 pm to 6 am for two solid months until Wednesday night, so I am being a Zombie right now! Slept from 10 pm to 3 am... That's it, haven't slept since... :-(

I don't plan on going over 300 whp, it is enough for me. I agree on all your points about uncertain reliability. I should have a FI kit installed by April. I'm sure your car must feel awesome right now!!

Y'all are saying "awe 225hp isnt that much", ok so no, On one hand I prolly have a bit more so I cant say I know what that exactly feels like, BUT

guys, these cars dyno far less stock. 50-60 is alot to add.

The thing is,

I do not see very many posts where someone has actually driven one,

yes, one that has been built right(that can vary but I mean a car not over rim-med or over-tired-my wheel and tire combo is 39lbs, that car will ride different than a car with 255's that weigh 30 lbs and a wheels that weigh 25lbs for a total of 55lbs, thats a 100lbs more rotaional weight than my setup, which is 1.5 lb less than stock.

I'd like to see that review from a build not laden down with 60lbs ground effects-no offense to you all who went that way, but if we're trying to evaluate a Supercharger then other variables need to be controlled tightly, agreed?

drive one tuned right and not with some overpiped showy exhuast, I'd like to see the review of a car running a basic 2.5" single can(like stock) resonated build.

Am I describing the future of my wifes car, a stage1Vortech basic daily driver? Perhaps, but I guess I'd like to read some reviews that are in line with I just described. Add oil cooler, then some proper suspension kit for a DD stag1 build and lets see how folks like it.

... not interested as we e-drive with hands on the keyboard rather than the steering wheel, and am wondering, aside from Skatery, who lives a mile high, where the reviews are for folks, every day folks, not tuner cars, running this in vanilla format.

Yeah, dynos are pretty to look at, but how something drives is hard to put on paper is my point, know wah ah mean?

(No offense meant to anyone! Just wanting to see a controlled real world review!)

We have OEM mud flaps. Is that too much for ground effects :-).

On the track, I'll try to add some commentary. It's fun now, and it's going to be fun with the smaller pulley.

It's all in the tune. Detonation at increased power levels when tuned by an aftermarket tuner and not an OEM engineer can have disastrous consequences. Crawford already spun a bearing, granted that was at a higher power level.

I have nothing on my car but the vortech kit + Perrin exhaust with sway bars and strut tower bars. I have stock wheels with sticky tires. No ground effects lol.

Nearly every professional review of our car has said "the car needs a little more power". This kit gives the car exactly what they are all asking for. Yes, a mustang GT will still beat me in a drag race. If that is what concerns you, there are big power kits out there for you.

With the Vortech kit and Perrin tune the car feels like it has plenty of power. It is much faster without changing the superb handling characteristics and instant throttle response of the car.

FYI for anyone who cares about this sort of fake comparison:

225 whp is roughly 265 hp at the crank. (given a 15% loss) (265*.85=225.25)

2013 FR-S with Vortech kit
2750 lbs / 265 hp = 10.38 lbs per hp

2013 BMW 135i
3373 lbs / 300 hp = 11.24 lbs per hp

THIS.

You nailed it.

truthfully, I am eager to see what the Turbo and twin screw cars feel like, I admit that fully.

We know the TC cars will have the most early TQ, and likely similar peak power outputs to the top level SC kits.

This is my main concern tho, with the kits that put out power low/soon.

Sure its nice to have 5psi from idle, I bet that feels great to launch, but how does it affect/benefit/subtract from the entire machine is a key factor that led me to take the "bigger NA motor" feel approach and make that my priority for my streetcar&trackcar build.

I am open to looking at the other vendors before I decide on what to do with our other BRZ, but the concern is with regards to unsettling the car with too much TQ too soon.

What looks great on a piece of paper doesnt always translate to the better drivability. Right now I have the same linear motor feel I had NA, same throttle response and modulation control. Just bigger bawls.

For her daily driver, I'm open to seeing what the others feel like but so far her eyes lit up when she drove my car and there was zero learning curve with regards to the right pedal for her and she 'knew' the handling, as it felt the same even with more, linear, power. Now shes gotta get quicker with that left foot!

Can we get some in car video's to see how the torque comes on in some low gear and also the higher gears on the highway?

Thanks,

Excuse me gmhooker, my car is built properly without ground effects with a reasonable exhaust

135i are underrated, they dyno anywhere from 270-280 whp

So, at the top end of that range - 280 whp = roughly 330 hp (330*.85=280.5)

2013 FR-S with Vortech kit
2750 lbs / 265 hp = 10.38 lbs per hp

2013 BMW 135i
3373 lbs / 330 hp = 10.22 lbs per hp

Very close...unlike the price. ;)

But seriously this is not a good way to compare cars.

If I started my own thread about this it would be called "The Revenge of the Shockingly Not Slow Car" and would have a ton of video that would get me in trouble.

All I want is one video of somebody driving one of these things around town. Everyone says the throttle response is perfect and pickup is good but all we see is dyno videos which are boring.

Would love to see a 0-60 on the speedo and a nice 3rd or 4th gear highway pass scenario.

There will be more video. Really don't have time during the week. Also won some tickets to the Rodeo, but maybe on Sunday.

Here is a new video I'm not proud of.

Doh! You at the point to where you tune out your radar detector? Sounds like it picked up the cop as you got on to the freeway. Ah well, hope it isn't too 'spensive!
