p.s. Kmart, $10 or so.

+1
I've done this with the new BRZ and with my 22 yr old BMW E30 which are notorious for cracked dashes. No issues so far.
I use the custom fit Cover Craft for all my vehicles. A little more money but fold nice and fit perfect.

Just wanted to share my experience.
My rubber dash started coming up after about 6 months of owning my car. I've finally decided to bring it in to the dealership to see if they will do anything about it. To my surprise I got my car back in 10 minutes and they let me know they are going to order a new dash.
Once it arrives they will call me up so I can schedule a time to leave my car. I was honestly expecting to have to fight with them about it. I even went around the lot and looking at 4 other BRZ's to make sure it wasn't common amongst the cars already on the lot. I didn't even need to show them the other cars.
If anyone is having this issue then I highly recommend just taking it in and having the dash replaced before it's out of warranty. I've owned my car for 1 year tomorrow and have 22k miles on it.

Update on this.

Brought it in, they took a quick look at it and ordered the replacement right away. Broke one of the vents in the process so it was 95% of the way done after having it in the shop for 1 day. They gave me the car back and told me they'd order the vent, it took a couple of days, but they got it in and fixed it.

Had some other issues with the dealer in question, but they're working to make those right. All in all it was a pretty decent experience, and it went better than I was expecting, no questions asked when I showed them the dash. They were a little apprehensive to replace it at first, but it ended up turning out ok.

I'd say if you're having the problem, just take it in they should be able to have the swap done in one day after they get the parts in.

im confused, is everybody having this replaced under warranty? I have this in my car as well, but Im not under warranty anymore and I cannot afford to buy a new dash

ZionsWrath 06-08-2014 03:39 PM

Yea I have pretty similar to the pic above. Meh, I doubt I'm going to do anything about it. noticed it for some time doesn't seem to ever get better or worse. Don't really want dealer messing with replacing dash.
