The fr-s interior is not as nice as the brz.. its slightly different, but it definetly looks cheaper.

I'm well aware of what nav costs on many cars however none of the cars where navi costs $2k already include the screen. Nav is only an $800 option on ford cars equipped with the sync system. The actual cost is even lower and probably balances out to zero on a car like this compared to the cost of offering it as an option due to the low volume.

yes, but lets just consider scion for the sake of argument. Scion offers the regular crappy looking radio.. they do offer an head unit option for $450 and then their navigation option which is 2k

Got a call from a scion dealership here in carson ca and was told the est price for the frs is 25-27k. thats too high for a scion. I think 22-23k would be fair price.

I'm kind of amused that people somehow thought that Toyota/Subaru could or would produce a low cost navigation option for less than 800 dollars.

Superior Toyota/Subaru navigation systems costs more than ford's to build, independent bespoke system cost more than the other options out there. Not sure why people think they would get all these things for the same price as a base radio system.

:bellyroll:

Back on topic, yeah, they can charge that much, but I'm more than reluctant to purchase said vehicle if the price is beyond what I perceive as a good buy.

25k - 27k would mean 27k-30k for brz? way too high. Im willing to go up to 23k for the frs plus whatever TRD parts i decide to get.

I originally voted 20-23k but now I'm pretty sure it will start at 24k. Why? Because the Mazda Miata, which is a smaller and technically simpler car (inline-4 engine, no direct injection, no rear seats, 5-speed manual, etc), starts at about 24k. And the Genesis also starts at about the same. Not to mention, the dollar is getting weaker to the yen. So I say 24k for starters and up around 28k with options/luxuries.

haha i thought your username was "frustrated" as in with the delays and lack of a price :P

Ugh. Good tactic, Toyota/Subaru, by letting interest build before dropping a price.

I'll be able to afford it, but I don't know if I want to spend $25k on a base FR-S or ~$30k on a loaded BRZ. I was hoping for a cheap "toy"... here's hoping my gut feeling is wrong.

the Miata is also a convertible. Convertibles are always more expensive.

1989 GT-S Original Retail Price (MSRP) $12,728 (92% of miata)
1990 Miata Original Retail Price (MSRP) $13,800

2012 Miata Base Retail Price (MSRP) $23,470
2012 FR-S Predicted MSRP (based on your Miata theory) $21,592

I'm rather surprised that a majority here think the price will be in the $20-$23k range. I spoke with a Scion rep (headquarters type) who said base price will be around $25,950. This sounds like a fair price and is significantly above the Tc price, which not in the same class, is an alternative. I'm betting the price is $25,950.

Only reason I say is we completely obliterate the tq dip when using the phantom electric supercharger even at the lowest boost configuration?

Basically pressurizing the manifold is causing the tq dip to disappear.

Thatruth has both a ECS and the nameless so we should see what the two can do together.
