Hey Draco-Rex, Steve_12v, what size rings are you using??

These are my 17x8's, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sports, 225/45 (closest size i could get the super sports in...)
They are powder coated a mix of Anthracite and Black (lets call it gunmetal), using extended Ray's lugs. I popped the Wedssport logos from the center caps, sprayed them black and clear coated them before replacing them with glue. I'm not experiencing any vibration from not using my hubcentric rings, I'll keep you all posted if I do. To remedy the TPMS light from not using the stock sensors (doesn't look like they would even have fit on the narrow mounting surface on this wheel) I followed this tutorial: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7827 Thanks for the inspiration guys, hopes this serves to further that of others out there. :thanks: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-K...hoto%25203.JPGhttps://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-w...hoto%25201.JPG |
Q for OP, where did you buy them?

Cruise is perfectly fine. I hardly noticed a difference in the spring rates. The tires are noisy, but that's to be expected ith this type of tire. However, the stock Michelins are pretty noisy for touring tires anyways, so it's a wash there. 8/10th is the same. Fun, responsive, and plenty of play in the tail for general hooning. 9/10ths+ is much improved. The front doesn't feel like it's struggling and the noise just shoots around corners pulling the tail with it. I haven't had a chance to take it to an AutoX yet, however. I was unable to attend the last two events I wanted to last year. But I have driven it down a very agressive road here in OH called the Triple Nickel (rt 555). It was fantastic and I was able to hunt down and hang on to a turbocharged G35 coupe. I could really get into the throttle early and launch out of turns at full song. I actually had to hang back and gap him before a turn so I could get a good run on exit to compensate for his power between the turns. Eventually he let me pass (then I missed a turn and ended back up behind him again. Oh well. :D ). But as for my desired setup, this car is spot-on. I'm extremely happy with it. And I'm amazed at how little I had to do to achieve this. Quote:
After getting some real camber on the car, I'm thinking I should have gone with the +35s. The perfectly flush tires I had before are now not so flush. But I do worry about the steering feel if I did. So I'm happy with what I've got. |

Looks awesome. I guess the ET42 is the way to go.
I'm planning to get 17x8 Kosei or Enkei wheels with 235/40/17. Can't wait until next summer!! Need to burn these stockers first, then use winter tires... then new set for summer. |
I'm about to pull the trigger on similar wheels in exactly the same size/width/offset as OP....but with factory 215 tires for the time being.
I know the rears will be fine, but the fronts look pretty flush to the fender and i'm worried i'll get scrubbing issues. Should i be concerned at all? I'm lowered about 1 inch all round with -1.2 camber in front. Daily driver, no track use. |
Surely you guys that are lowered some are running spacers with this offset?
Also on the 8" weds I assume there is zero concave correct? I know 9" have some concave but curious on 8".. |

Top: my 17x8+42 Bottom: Foobar's 17x9+35 Note how my spokes don't curve much from the hub while the 9" wheel spokes visibly curve out. Quote:
