What I hate is how people seem to think they need to take every curve at 20mph, yet when it comes to driving on the 17 people think it's totally okay to be maxing out their SUVs' grip. Now that's actually dangerous.

Awgh! That reminds me of another one: SUVs.
So many families need a minivan, but US culture makes it uncool to drive a minivan, so there are so many idiots driving SUVs instead. They don't tow anything, go off road, or anything like that. And what makes it worse, they bitch about gas prices! So they basically have a glorified minivan whose power capabilities never get tapped. They cost more, burn more gas, make multi-vehicle crashes more dangerous, and they make their drivers look like buffoons to people like me who are aware that most SUVs are just minivans for the self conscious. This has been my feeling for years, but I think it's slowly starting to catch on thanks to the "soccer mom" stereotype. 10 years ago, a "soccer mom" vehicle was only a minivan. Now SUVs are getting labeled the same way, which makes me happy. However, soccer moms that don't care about that are still buying SUVs, often for "safety." Bitch, if there weren't so many SUVs on the road, you wouldn't need a big heavy vehicle to be safe! Fueling the fire. Never will I ever produce so many humans that I can justify anything larger than a sedan, but if somehow that were to happen, I would man up and buy a minivan. |
