Would everyone agree that the 1ZZFE and 2ZZGE were designed to be high revving engines designed to be shifted at 8k RPM?

How come a lot of people that drove them hard had oil starvation problems, and started throwing rods. While people that drove them to ~5k rpms didn't have the same issues.

Just because a Ford Raptor is seen doing dirt jumps, it doesn't mean a Ford Raptor can go jump everyday. Yes, the FR-S is a car to have fun in but hitting the rev limiter and burning rubber everyday will accelerate wear and cause problems in a few years.

I drive my current car hard through corners and I see to wear and tear on my suspension parts I put on it 3 years ago.

I believe the OP has a auto. They have friction disks and a driver will have no control over how they slip or burn. Time will tell how durable these trannys and motors are....

There really isn't any questioning the fact that driving the car hard will accelerate wear and tear. Noone can argue that. However, another poster made a very good point: the lack of grip on the stock tires takes a lot of the load off the suspension. Ditching the factory trans/LSD fluid for full synthetic should also reduce wear. We simply don't know how durable this engine will be... I just hope that if mine blows up, it happens under warranty. I've never owned a Subaru, so I can't say anything that isn't anecdotal.

I wouldn't worry too much about the wheels falling off in 2 years if you're driving the thing hard (unless you're abusing it... if you dump the clutch at 5500rpm a few times a day, you're earning your repair costs), just don't be stupid about it. And definitely don't put other drivers or your passengers at risk.

I personally think that the 86 was made for the stuff that you're doing to it so you're good, just don't hit the rev limiter too hard and don't do it very often and I mean very often as in every 30 minutes or so. Plus, if you've got warranty then you have nooooothing to worry about.

Not very tactful, but I agree with the sentiment. I don't understand getting an auto in a car like this :help:. I couldn't believe it when the scion salesman here told me more than half of the FRS's they've sold have been AT.

I am not a fan of boxer motors.....these cars are so much fun but these motors I can do w/o.....that is why I shall be doing my swap and I can't wait until it happens :burnrubber:

If money wasn't a concern, I'd be perfectly happy with a supra engine in there :burnrubber:
