LOL, took a second look at the pics and just noticed that, now that is hillarious. What is also interesting, is the phone holder accessory that mounts into one of the pods, and the USB charge port is very nearby underneath, very cool.

OMG, those gages look way better on the FT86 than on the BRZ and not to mention that sweet front bumper. I also like the wheels better on the Toyota. I also see that it redlines at 7,500 and NOT 7,400 as others mentioned. Two thumbs up!! Btw, thanks for the photos. :party0030:

7450rpm is redline to be exact

Agreed. That color combo is hideous. Black and red interior on a white car or black car. Maybe even a red or silver one, but definitely not orange. It is awful.

I'm really not a huge fan of the way they did the red and black either. The steering wheel looks kind of funny and the shifter definitely does. I'll take mine with solid black please.

you guys forgetting its compression ratio of 12.5:1? if it wasnt premium only, i would have been shocked.

Could figure that from the beggining back in '09, to get to that 200hp mark premium fuel would have to be use.

But what rating premium fuel is required?? (95RON, 98RON, 100RON)that i would like to know

Probably the 91-oct equivalent.

Not liking the red interior with the orange. The cup made me actually laugh out loud.

Interesting they keep hiding the weight of the car.

91 is premium over in the US isnt it? 91 is the base unleaded fuel in Aus.

Would be interesting finding this information out in the near future. what exact fuel requirements the car takes. Then can take into consideration how much the yearly cost of ownership of the car would be.

FT-86GOD 11-30-2011 05:53 PM

Who cares..... Stick it on E85 ethanol..... Will cost a bit but run cooler and be up for pushin more power....... ;) LOL....

TOMIMOTO 11-30-2011 07:47 PM

Is there any news as to when the US showing of the FR-S will be?

I'm a Subaru guy, but I'm leaning towards the Toyota/Scion. Subaru's usually have a face only the owner can love, but I'm all set with that red headed step child called the BRZ.

Someone asked yesterday about the type of tire on the Toyota 86 on display at the show.

They are Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires - 215/40 front and 225/40 rear.

In California the highest octane sold is 91 R+M/2 aka 95RON, so I don't think they'll require more than that.

NikostC 12-01-2011 01:50 AM

Great Tires Thanks Hachi!

^This.

The rest of us get 98 RON aka 93 (RON+MON)/2 at some stations. It's a messed up system really since that does not give a real octane value but a contrived average between two different octane metrics. I hope when we switch to the metric system that we switch to RON for octane. It's one of the many minor details that piss me off about this country that doesn't even register with most Americans.

It's the same fuel quality either way, we even have a few 100 (RON+MON)/2 octane pumps but rarely. It's the E85 that is the special stuff though. But availability is the big issue. CARB needs to stop cutting pennies to save dead bunnies.

Like I said, from the press kit. They look CGI to me but either way, pretty neat. Also got a FT-86 Sticker and GT86 paper model. I'll take a pic and post it and some other stuff tomorrow. Time for bed!

Motorsports and "show" just doesn't sound right together but, that's just me...

No offense and props to whatever you do but when I hear show, I automatically assume HIN or things within that nature.

I do agree on your views on their marketing strategy, can't knock them as that's their target audience.

FT-86GOD 12-01-2011 07:49 PM

white one in black on black with the red one wing instead.......

LexusFman - being a lexus you should have love for the whole Toyota family even though you are on top of the barrel being a Lexus man and all hehe. Anyhow, if you think deep about choosing between a corolla XRS vs Scion TC, which one would you pick? You definitely choose the Scion. Why? because the corolla interior is shit and the exterior is very boring, but yet the two damn cars are priced the same. Therefore, who cares how the Scions are used in aftermarket competitions, that is subjective to the participants and audience.

Scion was created to the attract the younger crowd who would not buy the boring toyota main line, because there are no cars left in the toyota family that are worthy to be tuned or raced. Supra, MR2, celica are long gone. Sales were too low to continue any those models because people are more focused on MPG with the war oil that is happening with the whole world now. Therefore the market to attract auto enthusiast and young buyers had to be stronger than just add 1 or 2 coupe/hip vehicles to the Toyota family. The Scion subsidiary was to let buyers feel unique, new, and trendy. On top of that, design is more creative in layout and appeal, not including how 3rd party and aftermarket jumps on every Scion as soon as it is being released.

So bottom line, Scions are just cars priced as they are. I have a Scion TC, it was approx. $15K when I bought it, bone stock. It drove as it was expected to 160HP, I didn't expect more or less from a $15K car. If I want more, I will probably spend another $10K. That is why I also have a used 2005 STI which I got for approx. $20k. So basically you pay for what you get, unless you buy Hondas, RIP OFF!!! hehe

Don't hate the car, hate the tuner who puts the car in a league that it doesn't belong in.

Shit talk is welcome...=)

Yes thats the reason for the Scion brand to attract younger buyers. Now me Im in my 30's and really wouldnt buy a Scion for that same reason. If they would have kept it a Toyota product then Id have one in my garage. Well that and a turbo. lol

Will be the first thing I do once sorting out the coilovers and rims... U can't get it at petrol stations here either but can get it delivered to ur door by the barrel through a few companies locally thank f***.... Only problem is if I run a catless exhaust the cops will be all over me from the smell...

Didn't want to make a new thread. Here's a video which (I think) has not been posted.
