@Ultramaroon, or anyone have a picture of the offending part that we need to adjust? I'd like to try myself.

It's a bitch.

I guess that's why dealer won't do it and they advised me not to try...

Yep. Ultra was a far, far braver soul that I for tackling it. I don't do windows!

JazzleSAURUS 09-08-2016 02:57 PM

Mine is doing this. I'll be making a dealer appointment soon.

I intended to write a DIY when I first adjusted mine a couple years ago but quickly realized it was not a step-by-step process. It takes a great deal of patience and finesse, especially without the window gauges.

I'd do it asap if you're planning on getting the dealer to do it... mine told me the warranty for it was 3 years...

It only lasts for so long anyway. I had mine done a couple of weeks after I bought the car and now it is starting to shudder and make horrible sounds that it never had before. From past experience with frameless windows I know exactly what those sounds mean I am afraid.
I wasn't joking though when I said "I don't do windows" so I will go buy new guides and lifters from Totota and take them to an automotive glass shop to have them installed. I would rather a guy that deals with this stuff all day, everyday fix it than a Toyota tech (or myself) that doesn't have a clue what they are doing.

Guides and lifters are the bane of frameless windows so I half expected it anyway.

^^^this.

I went through a few cycles before accepting the fact that the mechanism is critically flawed. I settled on giving the window a little extra flop front to back. It rattles if I close the door when it's down. No biggie. YMMV

Looks different than the US plan?

"Gold Plus
Gold Plus plans include all Classic plan coverage plus hundreds more parts. In fact, they provide essentially the same bumper-to-bumper coverage as the basic factory warranty. Only a few maintenance items and body parts are not covered."

voyager2285 09-08-2016 06:07 PM

Maybe I should check with three sales person...

After 4 trips to the dealer for this same thing on my drivers side they decided to replace the entire regulator and tracks. Now my passenger is doing it. Lol

FWIW, my window somehow fixed itself. It cracked for a while, but has stopped completely for the last few months.
