Damn.. I was hoping to be able to run some 18x9.5 +38 with this new gen but guess not

Figure 255's won't fit with it so hoping i can fit a 245/35 then

I don't mind rolling the fenders if it means i can squeeze 255 though, maybe i'll add a tiny bit of camber to make it fit

I have a set of 17x9 ET42 that I plan on running on my incoming BRZ with 245/40/17. I’ll share more once I put them on.

I have some weak boi specs on order. Went with 18x8.5 +44 plan on running a 235/40 for a oem+ setup

grst1 11-11-2021 10:48 AM

I have a set of RPFs 17x9 +45 with Conti ExtremeContactForce 245/40/17 I will try on once I have my car and report back.

Been following this topic with amusement; I've been OK with OEM sizes on cars for a while, (sticky + light) > fat for me. YMMV, of course.

You have not suffered until you've taken delivery of a new car fitted with 155/80-13 tires; yesterday, I replaced a tire on a hand truck almost that wide!

My 245/40-17 on 9" wedsports are lighter than 215/45-17 on oem 7.5".

Lol. Probably just a young engineering team.

:w00t: Thanks for sharing that. This suggests good opportunities, with the right wheels & tires, to reduce unstrung weight if running more modest -- perhaps even OEM -- wheel/tire sizes.

Can you take a photo of the fitment from above the wheel, and slightly inboard?
Before I dialed in -2.5º of camber, I could find a spot where the top of the wheel would fully cover the bottom of the wheel, but was still visible from under the fender.

Here ya go, pics from above with 245/40-17 on 17x9 +35 wheels, car lowered to just under 13" from hub to fender, -3.2 front -2.7 rear camber.
NOTE: This is a 2017 car, not a '22!

So, there's a little bump out in the fender liner just inside of the fender lip that is what the tire has been hitting. I'll try to take pics later today, but I think the "less rubbing" has been a self clearancing thing lol. +35's with 245's might actually work. I'm tempted to try it with another set of Enkeis and some 245/40/17 PS4S's for tooling around in the winter here and back up heavy rain autocross tires.

Are you saying the rubbing has trimmed off that bump?
Have you looked at why that bump is there, what's underneath it?

Is the bump you're talking about located around any of these things?

Same here. Part of the reason I decided not to put a deposit on one or I'd already have it. Wanted to wait a bit for the aftermarket to figure out wheel fitments, suspension, exhausts, tunes, etc.

But as mentioned, when you buy high quality light wheels, you can wider, lighter, with wider sticky tires and STILL be lighter than the OEM setup. I'll likely end up TWS wheels.

Thinking to put 57DR 17x9 +38 with 245/40/17 AD08R from my first gen to the second gen.
Ordered HKS Hypermax IV SP and will pair with RLCA.
Car is arriving in Feb/March and will test it out once it's arrived.

245/40-17 on 17x9 +35, just under 13" hub to fender lip all 4 corners, stock control arms, camber plates, -3.25 front -2.7 rear camber.

I had these wheels on my 2017 as well, with RCE yellows being my only suspension mod. Beautiful wheels, but the fronts always looked a little tractor-like to me. Wondering if your setup avoided that by going lower?

I plan to try them out on my 2022, but it isn't due until February.
