I checked the L/100km gauge last night and it says 8.7L/100KM... which seems to be in-line with other people who do nothing but city driving like me.

So you should be getting 574 km tanks if you were to drive from full to empty, not 250km :).

You can try resetting that though, and see after maybe like 2-3 days of driving what your average is, because it holds the average from all of your driving until reset. I'm sure this won't matter much though.

Yes, I had a lot of highway driving the last month (2 separate trips to and from Ottawa) so that probably affected the average. I reset the gauge last night so I'll see how it is in a few days.

The gauge is an estimate based on your last XXX km of driving. Dividing total KMs drivin per tank by liters filled in the only way to get a real accurate number.

Why I mentioned resetting it. It has proven for me to be accurate after a reset when measured for a specific amount of time (3 days) and very strict driving to what my daily would be. This was done comparing the actual fill up and distance I had traveled.

With an inch taller tire, your speedometer is pretty badly off from the actual speed.

The built in economy meter is pretty bad even after resetting it after every fill up. I use it really only for instantaneous mileage which is really just a glorified vacuum and load readout. At the end of every tank after calculating litres used and distance travelled I get a much different number than the onboard average.

So you just bought the car, how many miles are on it? Did you change all the fluids? Dirty transmission fluid can slaughter gas mileage. What tires are you on?

I've tested this at stock, so my experience is not exclusive to only my inch larger diameter winters.

I've found it to be accurate strangely enough. When I was on stock wheels I was skeptical if it actual was accurate or not, so reset it before going up north for a drive, about a 2 hour trip one way, so a decent 4 hours total with varying traffic conditions. Basic math at pump after fill up from the trip showed the built in meter to be close to what I actually attained; unless of course, my car is a lemon and doesn't read anything correctly.

I find highway mileage to be more accurate than city.

I do about 50Km's a day up and down Kingston road to/from downtown Toronto. If that's not true city driving I don't know what is.

Maybe I should do more personal tests when I get my summers back on to test accuracy of city vs highway, either way, I don't rely on it.

I'm 5~~ minutes from Leaside area, with Kingston in a part of my commute. I don't travel 50 km though, that sucks haha. I imagine our driving conditions are similar, but obviously I don't get to the level of downtown traffic, as in financial district downtown traffic.

Been a few days now, it now indicates I get 5.6L/100km average. I just filled up yesterday and I've started using Fuelly to keep track of mileage so I'll update again after a few fill ups. Even with my questionable mileage, I still go 2 weeks between fills due to a relatively short commute.

That number seems reaaaaally good. That would mean you get close to 900 km if you go from full to empty... I need this. lol.

I only have about 1350 miles on mine so far, but I have been very impressed with the mpg.
My last drive was after the break in, so I was running it much harder, and higher rpm, it didnt care.
31.7mpg (according to the car, I havent calculated it myself yet)

I've got 2200km on my 17 86 now.
I calculate the mileage between the trip meter to the amount of fuel I put in at the gas station.

I seem to be averaging about 28MPG or 8.2L/100 which is in line with the EPA ratings. My daily commute is 18km one way city/highway mix. Combined with some spirited back country road cruising whenever I have a chance.

120kmh on the highway the car sits at 3300rpm. If I were to cruise around 100km on the highway I'm sure I could push it over 30MPG. I didn't buy this to exclusively to sip fuel, I'm satisfied with anything over 25mpg per tank for daily use.
