in the UK, the sort of sports coupes that the ft will be competing with are mostly in the £24k-£28k price bracket ($40k-$47k at todays rates)
i would be very surprised indeed if this comes in at under £25k in the uk |

we'll see though, it seems a lot of people are aiming at half of that... i would be utterly surprised if it drops under $20k base model, no options :( |

just for comparisons sake (comparing how much more tax/extras we are paying for), are there any toyotas currently being made that are available on both sides of the pond?
how about the yaris/vitz? you pay about £10k/$17 for a mid range model in the uk what would you guys pay? or is there any other model you can think of sold on both side? |

Isn't that a bit backwards? You'd think with today's government on car emissions they'd want you importing newer cars because they have more sophisticated emission systems. huh. 15 years? Seeing as how the first car I'd port over would be a AE86 GT-V, pretty sure I got the 15 years part down.:) |

One of the better known imported of JDM vehicles, and obviously on the left coast. Check it out. No AE86s at the moment (I've never seen on available on that site), but there is a GT4 Celica. 9000 CDN for a car with 100k (or 62k miles). |

It requires a lot of hassle and even more money. This is all to get it so you can register it for street use. If the car was going to be used only on the track, then its a bit more simple and cost worthy. |
So if that's the case then say like the Civic, 180s, Soarers (SC 300, 400) and other models would be since they were sold in the US or does it have to be specifically that car. Like the Soarer couldn't be since it was the Lexus in the US? Guess I need to research it a bit.

Pretty much the sum of everything is this: too much money, hassle, time, and hoop jumping to be worth it. Unless you have LOTS of money or you're just going to use it as a track car. |
Yeah, that's what it sounds like. That blows.

You could do it like the people that import the GTR's, strip them apart and import them as parts, put them back together here and register at kit cars...of course Cali is crackin down now and importing most of them

It's too bad, too. I wish I had some extra coin (and a garage). I would love to build myself up a nice R32 GT-R. |

I would guess it would comparible to what my GTS was going for when it came out base high teens the sport model mid to high twenties.
Id like to see it that way keeping the sport model a more rare find on the streets. |
The imports couldnt you just go a junk yard with cordless drill and pull some vin tags? I had a buddy back in the day did this on his car he wrecked. It worked but he did have his own garage and inspection station.
I wonder what the local cops would think if the pulled you over and you are on the wrong side of the car. That said I had my IS parked at the local Mcdonalds last month and when I came out there was a right hand drive skyline parked next to me. I guess its done. |

No more informations about the final price????
First announced under 30.000 € ... i'm afraid in Europe it will be higher.... :( I think a 2.0L motor with 200 hp don't cost more than 30.000, because of the concurence... For me, i think between 25.000 and 30.000 € |
If its NA, I'd go for 18.5K starting out. If it has a turbo version (which I'd prefer), my guess is it'll compete with the WRX at 25.5K or maybe a thousand less and going to nearly 30K or so. I'd pay 27K for a track-pack turbo in a heartbeat.
|
The only way this car is going to be sub $20k is if they have an inferior trim package with a slow, pos motor, no performance packages, and an open diff.
You'd then have an SR-5 and there would be no point in owning the thing. |
