I picked up the rims on Tuesday but haven't had the time to pick up tires yet. Plus I'm debating shaving off 2-3mm on these to give 245/40 a better fit. The sales mgr at Vordoven said 3mm is the max but I'm still a little weary of losing strength in the lug seating. If anyone has any feedback on this please let me know.

Do these rims need to be shaved? So if you don't shave it, it wont fit the 245/40?

chiefshayan 05-11-2015 04:48 PM

Any idea on how much these weigh?

Crazypinoy9 05-12-2015 02:34 AM

didn't need to shave at all. went with 235/40/18 tires, added whiteline camber bolts up front. no rubbing. note that i'm on TRD springs with stock shocks. I didn't have any rubbing issues before the camber bolts either. just wanted to eliminate a little bit of the poke by getting a little bit of negative camber.

I was hoping to have them tucked without having to use coilovers. But I'm sure the camber bolts will be good enough.

In regards to tires, I got Nitto Motivos. Mainly because I plan to do ZERO track time which means it's only a daily so I didn't need any performance tires. Why spend the extra money if I really didn't need to ya know? FWIW Im very happy with the Motivos right now. super quiet, 60k tread warranty... not bad for $120/tire :)

Motivo's are awesome tires, i have been running them for a couple years on my first FRS and a Cadillac ATS and no complaints at all. I may try the new Conti DWS 06 this time though. Going to run a similar wheel in 18x9 +35 with Swift springs and 235/40. Hope it doesn't poke too much up front.

Crazypinoy9 05-14-2015 07:01 PM

Ya i'm actually loving the motivo's. don't really have any complaints. it shouldn't be too bad in terms of poke. Camber bolts with -1.5 camber up front pretty much too care of the poke i had on my setup.

I ended up going with the new XXR 550 in 18x8.75 +36 so it should be pretty flush. Should have it all installed around this time next week. Really the only reason i went with the Continental was too save just a little weight and its a cleaner sidewall design.

Front poke is pretty narley but I have zero rubbing issues. Definitely need camber bolts or coil overs to get the fronts to look good.

Did you have to roll your fenders? I plan on doing the same set up, just hoping I didn't have to do any fender work

Pretty much about to ask what he asked. I don't want to do any fender work (I'm doing literally everything myself with the exception of putting the rubber on the wheel)

I have 1 inch drop from springs running 18x9.5et35. I had to run 215/40 front and 235/40 clears no problem. I had 225 in the front and it didn't rub when sitting. It will probably rub off I hit a bump though lol. No fender work done or camber or anything like that.

My fronts are rolled the rears are stock. I did notice that my tire is rubbing the front fender well alittle. Im not to worried about it since ill be able to add some negetive camber with coilovers. Under normal driving conditions its totally fine.

I can't read your mind.
You asked him what size and what type. Size is listed. Type is radial tire.
Maybe you should ask him specifically WHAT BRAND. I run 225/40-18 federal 595ss(which run wide) with 2.9 camber all around on coils lowered about 2inches with zero rubbing. 225/40's in any brand will not rub with coilovers that are not super soft and if you aren't tucking tire. If you check his profile he hasn't been on since May. And calling me the douche when you made the mistake...

Just installed.....needs a modest 1 inch drop...and i agree with everyone here...camber bolts for the front would be a plus

So right now you are on stock suspension?
they look damn good
what tires?

and on stock suspension, theres no rubbing issues....right?

gui dube987 10-15-2015 03:55 PM

Imma drop about 2" or a bit more on bc racing coilovers, do you think i would be good with 225/40 in front and 245/40 in back without rubbing?

thien 10-15-2015 04:29 PM

I rubbed at 225/40. 215 cleared at full lock. I'm only lowered by 1 inch

gui dube987 10-15-2015 06:24 PM

And did you rub because your tire were too wide or because they were to tall? Because im looking at 245/35 for the back but don't know what to get in front..

I suggest 225/35

I am not on stock suspension now. I have the Tein Basic coils dropped about 1.8 and I rub on 235/40

Carlysh 01-16-2016 11:13 AM

Anyone track or autox with these wheels how they hold up?

Rekt 08-09-2016 09:03 PM

hmmm

Im gonna go out on a limb here and say Coils are needed for that 18x9.5 34 offset set up, am i right?
