Me too...so much plastic chrome...I know it can be replaced but barf...and I'd rather have barely a center console than a center console that seems to be from a sedan.

And the whole dashboard is like a wall. Just one giant flat piece of cheap looking plastic/rubber/vinyl/whatever

To clear some things up:

-My dad is a big truck fan. He has three of them. F250 King Ranch with under 20k miles, Toyota Tacoma with 80k miles, Toyota Tundra with 300k miles. The Tundra is his DD and he absolutely loves it.

-I asked this question here because I was hoping for some pros and cons and such from the community. I've been lurking for a while and I have browsed most subtopics and I find this community quite enjoyable. No one is the better candidate to explain something than those of experience, and there are people of all types on this forum.

-I don't NEED a truck for anything I currently do. Having another passenger doesn't happen often and even then it is only a girl.

FR-S is the perfect choice then.

I have to agree that thus could be the car for you. Know you just have to figure out what is more important to you power or handling. The mustang is a lot faster and has pretty good handling but it's not as good on gas. The FR-S is more fun on your daily drives and feels a lot more agile. Sounds like you know plenty about trucks already. Seat time is really going to be what makes you pick the best car for you. I say go drive them and see what options are important to you and which one has the most things on your check list.

If I missed it I'm sorry... Was VERY quickly scanning this post but I say if you can keep your truck and get the FRS go that route. I LOVE my BRZ but I'd like to get a pickup to rack "wasteful" miles on and also for those times I'd like to haul something and not have to worry about the vehicle I'm using.

Wasteful = Boring highway miles back and forth to work.
Useful = Leaving early for work or weekend jaunts around the mountains and twisty bits.

Sounds like you have already eliminated the Tundra from what I am reading. It then becomes a choice between the Mustang and the FR-S. The Mustang is a stoplight warrior - if that is enjoyable to you, then that's your car. If you want to be in tune with the road and enjoy a light weight, small, and tossable car, the FR-S is the car for you.

Whatever car you end up getting, be a safe driver. Being in the young driver age bracket it annoys me when I see one thinking that they owns the road and starts to swerve through traffic. Been driving for 5 years, pay my own bills and expenses, only have one ticket, and I am 23.

Do not buy the car if you just want to drag ass and attract unwanted attention (even though its nice).

Just get the car that fits you best and do NOT be reckless. There are tracks for that.

1) compare the insurance rate unless dad is gonna pay anyway.
2) drive both and see which one gives you more smile. If none, search more.

must remember this car is not a very practical car.it is small,and cargo room is tight.
it's a sports car.on the other hand,if you don't have to haul more than two people around,
and your cargo requirements are not very large,then you probably can't find another car for the money that will be so rewarding to drive...just sayin'

lol. After driving my SS after a wash the other day, it feels so clunky driving it compared to my FR-S. Love the power and torque, but even a simple U turn at a light is more of a hassle compared to the FR-S.

I should put the LS-1 in my FR-S! That'll fix that torque dip.

Get a FRS or a Mustang and just borrow a truck from your dad when you need it. If you only used ur truck twice in the past year I dont see the point of having a truck for everyday driving. I drive a Civic for a DD and it's awesome!!!

I would recomend that you do not buy it. Details of the car are irrelevant. Sportscars are emotion based purchases, and asking on a forum if you should buy it would be much the same as asking if you should marry a particular broad.

If you really wanted to own this car, nothing and no-one would stand in the way of your getting it.
