Helpful for the install was the Vortech manual that came with the system also located here: http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/images/97.pdf
I also referenced the RallySport Direct install here: http://theattack.rallysportdirect.co...frssubaru-brz/

And the FSM available here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35279

OMG IM STEALING THIS! I remember that day!

I almost forgot. I installed the clear side markers with LEDs from HID Powerhouse.
Had to tweak the tabs on the bulbs so they'd make contact, and the marker light on the passenger side is a pain to get to lock into the top mounting tab. But they work and look good. Thanks for the suggestion @ftc~brz

Easy install and looks great.

Sweet ride man ! she looks and sounds great !! Keep up the progress. You definitely got every penny's worth out of those track days, awesome !

diirk 05-10-2014 06:03 PM

In preparation for a trackday tomorrow, I've installed new brake pads, changed out the fluid and added speed bleeders to make it easier.

Running Hawk ceramic pads front and rear. Motul 5.1 synthetic brake fluid and Russel Speed Bleeders.

That is awesome. I hope you can find some video with me because I messed up the setup of my GoPro and didn't get any video at all.

So, did a trackday with ExtremeSpeed Track Events on Sunday May 11. Streets of Willow CW.

The was the first trip out with the Vortech. On the first session I managed a 1:32.0. I was pretty happy with that. I was hoping to break 1:30 but the first session was the only one I managed more than 5 laps. the rest of the sessions were full of carnage and black flags. So i decided to take it easy and stayed around 1:35.
I did average about 10mpg on the track...lol.

But the Vortech was awesome, as can be attested by the myriad of 86's and Miata's I passed. Many of whom came by asking WTF...

I do have a little oil blow by, looks like it's coming from the blowoff valve or breather. So that will ne to be rectified.

You've had a few other things going on. I feel bad for not swinging by before I left, but everything compressed at work and I was just running around like cray.

diirk 07-08-2014 11:01 AM

Installed the FBM Catchcan/Battery Tie-down.

Install was complicated by the fact that I have a Vortec and there were parts missing from the FBM kit. I ended up getting it all installed and a trip to Home Depot took care of the missing vacuum line caps. The missing fitting was shipped by FBM a few days later.

Fitment of the kit is quite good. One thing that confuses me is the choice of hardware for attaching the catchcan to the battery tie-down. They sent a countersunk style screw where almost anything else would work better. I'll change that out when I get a chance.

Also, I polished the battery tie-down prior to install just for S&G's.

Notes:
  • A swivel adapter will make getting the PCV off much easier.
  • A 1" open end wrench (AN Wrench) needed for installing the new fitting.
  • The AC Compressor does not have to be removed. You can tap into the line further out without issue.
Pics pending....

Thanks. I can't wait. But I'll be busy this weekend so there won't be any progress until next week.

Got the air lines ran today and straightened up the wiring in the car. I ordered a fuse tap off of Amazon to keep the wiring cleaner in the engine compartment and will get that organized once I've verified operation.

Well, ran into one issue after another.

Front wheels (17x9 +42 Rota's) are rubbing on the bags. Going to have to come up with a solution for that. For now I'm running the stock front wheels.

My tank won't sit under the floor of the trunk. It'll be at least an inch too high. Fort now I threw it on top on a wood panel. It's a temporary configuration until I decide how I want to proceed.

gsrmn 09-22-2014 08:34 AM

diirk after seeing your car in person and its looking sweet!!! SLAM STATUS

diirk 09-22-2014 10:10 AM

Thanks Ruben. It was fun running the canyon yesterday. Sorry we bailed before lunch.

diirk 09-24-2014 08:50 PM

Ordered 5mm spacers and just installed a 2" shorty antenna. Nothing exciting, but trying to keep this up to date.

diirk 09-25-2014 11:49 PM

Installed 5mm spacers and adjusted to about -2° camber. This allowed me to run the 17x9 wheel in the front with the 245/40 tires.

It's a really close fit. Both at the bag and the fender. I can't dump the bags at the current front strut level, but that's not a big deal.

I will be picking up some 225's for the front. Will also be picking up some longer studs. Still debating between the Nismo and the ARP's.

Ok, so yesterday I took a stab at installing thhe tank and compressor. This is v 2.0. But it did get everything under the cover and in the spare tire area.

Not too pretty, but functional for now. I'll see how I like it and if I want to make more changes before I cut down the air lines and clean up the wiring.

diirk 09-28-2014 06:59 PM

Installed ARP wheels studs on the front of the car today. Mainly I wanted the added security due to the spacers.

With the 5mm spacers and the Blox long lug nuts, the studs don't stick out either.

Your car is amazing. The fitment in the front is perfection imo. I love that you decided to run 17s instead of 18s unlike the majority of people i've seen. That being said, i'd really appreciate it if you posted more pictures of the entire car aired out. Also, nice touch with the white fueled by hate sticker.

Thank you. i appreciate the comments.
I'll see about getting more pics. Still waiting for the new tires to show up for the front, so I can't completely dump it yet.

Got the new tires on the front today. Now running 225/45-17's on a 17x9 +42 wheel with 5mm spacer in the front. Still a little closer to the air bag than I hoped for. May adjust the camber in the front a little.
