Depends on what you get. If you get a FP without a cat, then you'll be promoting (hopefully) better flow throughout your exhaust. I have the Nameless FP/OP with a High Flow Cat, and the sound, at least to me, wasn't incredibly noticeable.
Power-wise? I gained a few hp, nothing tremendous. Throttle response maybe a bit better? That I don't really know, I think I might've felt more from the lightweight crank pulley. I do remote tuning, so I'm probably not squeezing every bit out of my car, but it's something. The reason I got the FP/OP was because of my class in Autocross. I have to have a cat in my exhaust setup somewhere, so I opted for catless headers and a high flow cat in the front pipe. |
I thought the resson for buy FP/OP its for prevent fitment issues,
I like to hear those members with full aftermarket exhaust |
This is a 2.5" flange against the stock over pipe. As you can see, not ideal for airflow.

As far as what kind of gains you may or may not get, it depends on how all the components affect your afr. Also, a custom tune will make better, safer gains than an ofs tune; particularly with the amount of aftermarket intake and exhaust mods that you have.

So....I've had Gruppe-S headers/overpipe, stock front pipe, and Perrin 2.5 resonated catback for at least a year now and I just recently started hearing raspyness or a fine rattle that seems to be coming from the front pipe. It's mostly noticeable on cold starts and sometimes with acceleration. Just checked and there aren't any loose bolts or leaks. Could it be the cat in the front pipe gone bad? I don't know if this is relevant, it may just be me, but the exhaust smell in cabin has increased as well. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

My train of thought is that since i'm FI, there's increased stress on that only cat left? I know that the cat can eventually get plugged resulting in my car not starting, I just don't know how fast this process takes given my situation nor do I know the symptoms associated. |
Theres a guy in my area with a Supercharger, he dropped a K&N filter and front-pipe and went for a revision tune that gained him an extra 13+ whp... not sure if the same applies for NA engines
|
I’d only do an aftermarket front pipe if it was a track car only. As a matter of fact I ran an aftermarket front pipe/overpipe for 3 years with my UEL and I had to apologize to multiple families about how loud my car was. It seems to add some top end power but I’d look at who your neighbors are before making such a decision.
Sometimes bigger overpipes hit the front crossmember without stiffer engine mounts. |
Catless header of your choice (mine was OEM decat, cost = gaskets)
2.5" overpipe (mine was Ultrex at $90) 2.5" single or dual resonated frontpipe (mine is SME single resonated, cost $350) OEM catback (still running it now even with boost). With a good NA tune you should be around 200hpatw. Cold start will still be loudish. Once warm the car sounds nice with no drone. Add a turbo for near OEM quietness, apart from spooling induction goodness. |
