Thinking of getting the same sub/amp as you OP
I've never done audio but I think I can tackle it with this DIY http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23314 Also what do y'all think about the infinity bass link? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_108BASS...er-reviews-tab |

Read the reviews. I mean REALLY read the reviews on the Basslink. Check Amazon, Crutchfield, etc. Go ahead, I'll wait. Done? Notice the overwhelming number of people complaining about the thing failing 12-16 months after installation? It's pretty common. I was considering one for my Jeep JK but had a friend talk me out of it just by showing me the reviews. True, you might get lucky and have a solid unit. But with a nearly consistant issue that's reported on numerous vendors I think I'd pass. |
Yea I read some of those reviews. I'm probably gonna just spend the extra flow and get the JL setup. Always wanted something from them..

I just bought the non-powered version of that JL Audio sub+enclosure, the "JL Audio CS110-WXv2
Sealed BassWedge™", and want to install my Rockford Fosgate 500w amp right on top of it. Reaffirming news to see JL Audio don't foresee any real problems with an amp tied to the box itself. |

*Never mind. Damn that integrity box looks dope. Sounds like it would be just as good as the stealth box but without the JL price tag. |
I think the OEM Audio+ system sounds good but a bit overpriced. The most attractive thing about it is how the sub/amp is located all the way to the side of the trunk. The JL Audio stealth box that is due out for the FRS will likely be even pricier than the offering by OEM Audio+.
I choose to go a similar route as the OP hoping I'd be able to get a little more value, power, SQ, and fun designing and building my own system. So far I've spent close to what the OEM Audio+ retails for $1075 - $600 (parrot smart HU), $200 (RF 4-ch 500w Punch amp), $125 (MB Quart components), $150 (JL Audio 10" enclosed). Hopefully when it all comes together it'd sound good as well. :) |

A little update, I had a bunch of junk in my trunk and one of the objects kept on rubbing against my speaker and it almost made a hole:eyebulge:
So if anyone plans on purchasing this sub I highly recommend to buy a speaker grill, 20bucks well spent! |
@ysr50guy, looks sweet dude! Hey I was wondering if you ever considered placing the sub facing downward? I asked a Crutchfield advisor about the JL Audio CS110 sub enclosure (similar to yours without the amp) and they said it would be fine because of the grooves on the side. I noticed yours has the grooves as well. Regardless, like you I may just spend the $20 to pick up the JL grill as well to protect my investment (even if I'm planning on having it face down).

Will the thing is if its facing downward its going to be a little hard to find a way to strap it down to keep it from rolling around. What I did was I use industrial strenght velcro to keep it in place and it worked really good!

Which is unfortunate because they make some of the better budget-friendly components IMO, the Kappa Perfects. |
