Tinted lights are Unsafe and illegal

Call me old fashioned, call me a safety nut.

Tinting headlights and tinting tail lights may look cool, but it is unsafe. FMVSS ( federal motor vehicle safety standards) stipulate that headlights are supposed to be white, and tail lights red. In most states it is illegal to modify them this way. If you guys get rear ended with your black tail lights, your insurance company will find it and they may very well say the accident is your fault. You will lose, and hopefully the person that hit you from the rear isn't injured and won't sew your pants off when your insurance company drops you like a rock.
Just don't do it, unless you have a few million bucks in the bank. You are putting yourself and everyone driving around you in danger.
Drive safely. As a first responder for the last thirty years, none of you want to see the carnage I have seen.
Red lights in the rear, white lights up front, nough said.

Sewing my pants would be such a gracious favor :P lol if you read the title of this thread, the topic concerned is headlights, not tail lights. I have no wish to modify my tails. I just want to apply a lens tint to the headlights. As long as they aren't entirely blacked out and light can clearly pass through the lens and be recognized at night, I don't see the problem. If the stock bulbs aren't bright enough to show through the tint at night I was going to invest in some 35w 5000k HID's.

LEOs might see your point differently, just making you aware of the law.

I am aware that the law differs by state. As far as MO goes, visible within 500 feet seems to be the only stipulation.

Don't tint your headlights! You'll crash and burn and kill everyone around you! You must be a millionaire.

lol

Hola, and sorry if this thread is in the wrong place.

I've seen everyone blacking out the chrome in their headlights, but I was curious about tinting them.

Thanks!:happy0180:

Looks really nice! It seems like you matched the red pretty well. Did you actually tint your headlight lens, or crack them open and black out the inside?
