I'd say the ST. With Ford's "overboost" feature you'll find hillclimbs might actually be fun.

Certified Pre-owned Audi A4 - You could pick one up for under $30k and it would carry an additional 2yr/50k warranty on top of what's left of the factory warranty. You have an S4 so you already know how good Audi products are, especially at extended periods of time over 100mph ;) You can have a capable highway car that you can put mileage on without worry. If you get bored with the power and one of your local Audi dealers is STaSIS certified, you can chip it and get 261hp and 305 lb/ft and still be under warranty. WINNING!

Diesel? Is gas mileage a concern or just speed and comfort?
Why is the BRZ "too nice" compared to Audi's and BMW's that are more expensive to maintain? Is cost a factor at all? Purchase price, maintenance cost, reliability, and resale value? If so get a V6 Accord or Camry. Used cars won't last long if you're doing 50k plus miles/yr. you're looking at new $20k cars that have some power and a long warranty. Maybe a new Hyundai. 274hp should make it up to 100mph on a hill. Or get like an E30 325iS and spend money to maintain it. I've seen plenty of non-abused ones with 2-300k miles. And they're designed for autobahn speeds. |

Says who? I worked at a STaSIS-certified Audi dealer that was authorized to modify new cars and sell and install parts. I sold a STaSIS-packaged A5 and S4 while there, and we had numerous S4's, S5's and at least one supercharged R8 in for upgrades.

Too nice to commute (plenty of memebers here including myself bought it for just that).
Burn it up? Nah...you're making someone's dream come true once you put all those miles on and sell for cheap.:laughabove: Must be a heck of a job to merit that commute..what is it the Jersey/NYC run? I'm with the others on adding another Audi to the mix or just using up the A4 in your garage and replacing it with something you'd rather drive. I think the MINI would be uncomfortable for that long a drive every day. I know quite a few people making repeat Audi purchases for that one. |
Get a Tesla roadster. Deplete charge on way up, ride brake and recharge on way down :D

I can't believe moving isn't an option. Run the numbers at $0.50/mile on that drive (gas+maintenance+depreciation), and you are spending $2k/month on that commute in direct car costs. Add in say, $25/hour for her time (that she could be working extra, time with the kids, working on projects at home, etc.) and that's another $1k/month.
Are you saying that where you live right now is worth $3k/month more to you than living closer? That's about the monthly payment on a $500k home with a standard 30 year mortgage - or, that you'd be able to buy that much more hose by living closer. How much is an extra hour or two worth every working day? -Charlie |

For the high speed commuting, the car is an absolute dream. I find it more stable at speed than even my M5 was. Almost always highway cruise at 100mph+, and it feels right at home. |
When I put 50k+ a year on a vehicle a year, for about 4-5 years, I bought a Sentra. Thing did 100 no problem on the interstates when I wanted it to, though I usually cruised at 80 for obvious reasons, and I don't suspect it will ever die. Itt only cost 17k new... It was plenty comfy to ride in, nothing really to complain about, except it was ugly as hell.
I don't believe in spending lots of money on something you know will get "used up." Why buy a luxury style vehicle for that? Cause you'll spend some time in it? That's a hollow excuse for the money in my opinion. |
