are these aftermarket wheels actually round? or still off-center like stock?

seriously. you'd be amazed how much pedal control you gain sitting closer.
I am almost 6 foot tall and have it like 3 notches forward from all the way back. maybe even 4 depending what shoes im wearing (my work boots are way too thick heeled lol)
but man I fee like im sitting close but the control is incredible. my elbow naturally falls at the back of the e-brake "leather". seems really close but feels perfect. reach is fine to the wheel still. I lean the seat back about 3 notches so im not doing the kiss of death with the airbag.
you know if its too close and it goes off it can kill you right?


maybe I will have my wife snap a pic of me sitting with door open. probably looks funny but feels so right. I also have no problem doing heel-toe like everyone else complains about. I can even do it with my boots.

For anyone looking to stay ALMOST OEM. I got a DAMD in a group buy :thumbup:. The bottom is flat, it's thicker than the OEM wheel, and smaller in diameter. It is no more dished, but does utilize all OEM equipment from the OEM wheel. I got black leather, w/ red stitching Totally OEM :bow:. Several people have driven my car, from 6'2" to my 5'7", and they all stated they really liked the feel of the wheel...Kami-speed recently had another G/B....Check out DAMD.com...Hope this helps :w00t:

I too have this problem and the temporary solution was to wear thin soled shoes and sit a click closer.

I thought about making a spacer that would mount on the steering wheel spline to space the stock steering wheel a little closer. Not sure if it would affect any of the electronics. Usually the spline is pretty long and ~20mm should be ok.

Once the steering wheel nut is tight, there is about 2 threads showing. The nut is appr. 5/8 - 3/4 thick (did not measure it), doubt you could get 20mm, but a little is better than nothing. I'm vertically challenged, the car fits me perfectly :happyanim:

Nope, that doesn't help at all. While the DAMD wheels look quite nice, I'm specifically looking for a wheel that puts the rim closer to me. There are plenty of pretty replacement wheels that don't do what I want.

I wouldn't be comfortable with that. The connection of the wheel to the column is not really a place I would want to mess around.

YES... most driver's sit WAY too far back.

6'2" here with 34" inseam and 73" arm span... have my seat in the middle to slightly forward of middle of its adjustment range. Not the horrible stock seat though so am able to very comfortly do it. Main issue I have is headroom and seeing traffic lights, steering wheel is okay distance wise.

I am at comfortable pose only if not wearing helmet being just 6'.
For helmet extra clearance needed -> seat back leaned more -> to reach in right position wheel within it's adjustment range moving seat too much front -> legs hitting steering wheel & less precise legwork. I can choose, to scrape with helmet roof lining OR have bad steering wheel reach OR have bad leg pose.
If some solve this by buying very lowest aftermarket bucketseat + gutting seat cushions, i want to try first those steering wheels with 20mm offset (most probably if one doesn't care for stock airbag, one can find among aftermarket steering wheels much "deeper" ones .. and such often get installed together with interior strip/safety rollcage/bucket seats). In offset wheel case seems that no function/daily practicality will have to be sacrificed. Just ding in wallet .. and unfortunately unwanted rice looks :(

BTW, those wheels happen to be also of smaller diameter, which may help slightly. I noticed that steering wheel at right distance (wrist of hand on top of wheel), if wheel is lowered, i can move seat (or it's back) back a bit. Smaller diameter > lower steering wheel > still enough clearance for hands to not hit knees & for knees movement @ heal & toe.

The ATC, J-Luth, Keys Racing and who else, all use that same frame with a 20mm offset. The ATC wheel that I had actually had J-Luth embossed on the frame also. So those are your only options. And you can have the carbon fiber look repainted or covered with vinyl.


I had the stock wheel back for one day before I sold the car and it was annoying as hell having my leg hit it again. I had completely forgotten about it.


Also, people suggesting to tear the wonderful stock seats up, are nuts. These are some of the best car seats period, why ruin them? Address the problem, which is the steering wheel.

I love the stock seats. They are the most comfortable seats my ass has ever experienced.

6'2 , 33. I agree, very comfortable yet hold you in place reasonably well.
