I find myself in the market for a screen.
Having trouble finding one online so I'm researching the specs to find an alternative.

Only the touch screen is damaged so I might try a new one of those from adafruit.

I find this one with very similar socket cables.

I also find the specific model in Chinese market. But shipping is gonna cost a fortune.

After not being able to find the complete screen, I decided to go another route.
On mine, the display still works. Only the touch screen failed. They are two separate components attached with some adhesive.
Most all resistive touch screens are the same except for size so I worked it off with a razor and cleaned the surface with alcohol.

A quick search on ebay found a 3.5" touch screen measuring 77x64mm which is very close enough. Once it's on, the calibration process will fit it.

EDIT:
This looks like a direct replacement to the touch screen. I ordered both but Digi-Key will get here sooner.

In reality, you can use a larger screen as well since calibration will take care of matching pixels to values.

You need to make sure the plug is a 1mm pitch. A lot of them are 0.5mm pitch but there are adaptors and extensions out there as well.

The screen wont be here for a week or so. Will update more then.

Fixed!

The screen at
https://www.digikey.com/product-deta....5Z-ND/2626417

Worked perfectly for $15.00 with shipping.
The adhesive is already around the edge so you just pull off the clear plastic and stick it down. The plug is in the right place but a little longer but doesnt affect anything.

A drop of glue on the old posts and it's done. I added a strip of foam around the outside.

Now my OFT is like new, except the bottom edge looks like it was chewed on by a gorilla, LOL.

Thanks again to everyone for sharing the knowledge!

Glad you were able to fix it dude. This is why I created this thread! :party0030:

Did you every try to pursue this route? I'm curious if this screen worked or if I still need to find another.

Could someone who has done this shed some light on how the two outer case parts snap together? Maybe some close-up pics? Can the case be opened without breaking the tabs if you know where/how to pry?

Thanks!

Does anyone know if this would be a direct replacement? The model number is off by one character.

I've been asked a few times through PM's for the links to the replacement parts. It's easy to fix these, but you will beat up the case of your OFT quite a bit. Therre's no graceful way to crack open that clam case!

A very nice guy on FB gave me these links in October. I won't call him out, in case he wants to stay lurking, but if you are reading this, you're the best dude!

So heres The LCD

Looks like those links are broken. I think these are the correct ones:
