Cosmetic Key Modification
So, I got tired of how boring the key is on the BRZ Limited. Because of that I decided to make use of some of the 3M Scotchprint samples I have and play with my key a bit.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kind of a nice little cosmetic mod to make the key not look so boring. |

Could have gone CF all the way but I kinda wanted some color on it, and red didn't match for this car

If somebody makes a brushed aluminum housing for our key fobs I'd be all over it.

I would want a small subaru metal sticker (like the vw flip keys) for the blank engraved subaru logo.
But at the same time, for something that never leaves my pocket... |

Looks good, I'm thinking of either doing this or just spraying the black FOB blue or something to make it a little more interesting and easier to spot.

I had a look on ebay and some other sites and saw nothing of the sort. If someone has a link or part number please post it up. |

Would be cool to see a nicer housing being sold. Or even a case. Ive seen the STI leather case on eBay and it matches the car well. Overpriced though.

Honestly I wish it was the form factor of my dads RX-8 key...flat and thin like a credit card. That way I could put it in my wallet and not have any "keys" when I went out.
![]() If I was ambitious and had money to burn I would buy and extra key and pull it apart and see if I could fit the guts into a more convenient package. |

I personally was never a fan of the mazda card key. Its not really a normal size for your wallet, and I don't usually sit on my wallet in the car anyways. Plus they were less than durable. I quite liked my VW flip keys.
I would much rather have a small keyfob like the BRZ. My civic key was huge and bulky and the blade was always exposed, didn't sit flat on the key ring etc. Oh the small things that annoyed me. The worst thing was chrysler keys, or some GM keys that had an entirely separate keyfob from the actual keys. Out of all the available options, I'd say the small key fob the BRZ got was quite ok. |

Some Mercedes have the card key. A CL500 we were working on had one like that. No buttons. The secondary key was a typical Mercedes key.
If I were to have a blade key, I'd want a flip type. A Jaguar type would be cool... It's a funny shape. |
