Weird engine noise

Looked around and couldnt find it. was wondering how loud are your injectors suppose to be before it gets too loud. every time i drive next to something even if its just a car or even if no one is on the road the engine is so loud and i dont know if its the injectors but the noise does not sound normal at all. had the hpfp replaced under warrenty so i dont know if its cause the crickets went away and i never heard this noise? anyone else get this noise and feel like the motor is just too loud.

Yes..this is the loudest engine I have every had (my first boxer). From what I can tell, when the direct injectors turn on (seems to be when the engine is fully warmed up) the engine noise gets the loudest with click-clack sounds.

I suggest that you find another FR-S (at a dealership or a club meet) and compare your engines sound to another FR-S.

If yours is much louder, then have it looked into. If it isn't then ..... welcome to the boxer club ....

It is partially because of the thin lightweight hood and the plastic wheel wells.

This engine makes all kinds of noises at idle and slow speed that sound bad and just plain wrong. I've learned to ignore them, and as long as the car is running well, just turn up the radio and enjoy the ride.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the boxer engine. The old Subies had hydraulic valve lifters that were really noisy, but they never needed to be adjusted. Not much you can do about it. What about Porsches? Now you know why the engine is in the back, as far from the driver as possible. Of course, the trade off is a better balanced drivetrain and easier access to things like main bearings. There are additives that will quiet that noise but I would suggest just getting used to it.
